RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional: Results, Schedule, Format & How to Watch

Last weekend's RLCS 2021-22 North American Open Regionals were a huge success, with FaZe Clan coming out on top for the first time ever! Now it's time for RLCS 2021-22's European Open Regional, which will bring all of the European teams together for the first time since RLCS X, and bring forth the first round of the new Rocket League Championship Series Season.

Team Endpoint Stun World With Shock RLCS European Opens Win

Team Endpoint have come out to take a shock European Opens Win after an intense face off with Team BDS. After winning the final game of the RLCS 2021-22 European Regional Opens, Team Endpoint have become European Open Champions. After a final goal, almost three minutes into over-time, Endpoint came out 2:1 against their competitors, Team BDS. The win has been labeled as "unthinkable", with the team not being expected to progress this far into the European Opens, and certainly not expected to take home a win.

When are the European Open Regionals?

The RLCS European Open Regionals will run from October 22 to October 24, 2021. They begin each day at 8AM PT (5PM CEST), running for a number of hours as the first day will include a 16-team Swiss System Format, followed by Playoffs on the 23rd and 24th.

Which Teams are in the European Open Regional?

A total of 16 Teams will compete in this weekend's European Open Regional, working their way up the ranks to hopefully claim a position in the Majors.

RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional Format

There will be two main events in the RLCS European Regional Format, spread out over the three days in which it occurs. The first is a 16-team Swiss System Bracket, where all matches are best of five. Once the bottom half of the teams have been whittled away, the top eight teams then proceed into the Playoffs.

Playoffs take place on the second and third days of the RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional. They will simply be Single Elimination Brackets (thus, there is no need for a diagram here), and will all be best of seven matches. The Grand Finals will end up being the final two winners, whom will compete in a best of three set of best of seven matches. That might seem complicated: basically, the two teams compete in best of seven rounds, the first to have one two of those best of seven rounds becomes the overall winner.

To make it easier to understand, here is an easier-to-comprehend interpretation of the RLCS European Open Regional Format:

• Day 1: Swiss Stage (check the above diagram)
  • 16 Teams compete
  • All matches are best of five
  • The top eight teams progress to playoffs
• Day 2 & 3: Playoffs and Grand Finals
  • Single Elimination Bracket
  • All matches are best of seven until the Grand Finals
  • Grand Finals are the first to win two best of seven competitions.

How to Watch the RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional

You can watch the RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional on Rocket League Esports' YouTube and Twitch channels. In additional, all teams will be streaming on their individual Twitch Channels on Day 0. This is pretty exciting because it means that you can watch your favorite teams compete without needing to wade through a bunch of other team's games.

RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional Schedule

The first round of the European leg of RLCS 2021-22 will take place between October 22 and October 24. There are three rounds, as explained above, and they will take place on the following days:

• Swiss Stage Bracket: October 22
• Playoffs: October 23 & October 24
• Grand Finals: October 24

RLCS 2021-22 European Open Regional Prize Pool

This year, the RLCS EU Open Regional will have a whopping $100,000 USD prize pool, which will be distributed amongst all players. In addition, each team will receive a certain number of circuit points determined by their placement in the competition. Teams will need a certain number of Circuit Points to qualify for the RLCS 2021-22 Championships next July.

The Prize Pool distribution is as follows:

• 1st Place: $30,000 USD / 301 Circuit Points
• 2nd Place: $20,000 USD / 250 Circuit Points
• 3rd - 4th Place: $8,500 USD / 200 Circuit Points
• 5th - 8th Place: $4,000 USD / 150 Circuit Points
• 9th - 11th Place: $3,000 USD / 110 Circuit Points
• 12th - 14th Place: $2,000 USD / 70 Circuit Points
• 15th - 16th Place: $1,000 USD / 40 Circuit Points
