In December 2019, Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate announced the upcoming release of their turn-based role-playing game. After a year of radio silence, we might finally have a release date!
Riot Games has many plans to expand further into the League of Legends lore and let their fans truly experience the world of Runeterra. One of those is the upcoming game Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. After almost a year of radio silence from Riot, we've finally got some information on the game!
The game was announced in December 2019 as a collaboration between Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate. It was teased in a 1-minute video showing off the creepy world of the Shadow Isles and multiple ghosts which seemed to have been let loose on Bilgewater.
Riot Forge is a third-party publishing label with Riot Games that focuses on working with experienced studios outside of Riot Games to create more League of Legends content. Their first announced game is Ruined King: A League of Legends story which will be developed by Austin-based Airship Syndicate, who have released popular titles such as Darksiders Genesis and Battle Chasers: Nightwar.
What is Known About Ruined King: A League of Legends Story?
The story is set after the events of the short story Burning Tides. This will let players explore the breathtaking city of Bilgewater through the eyes of some of the game's most popular champions, like Miss Fortune or Gangplank, who call this their home.
Of course, that won’t be the only part of Runeterra fans will get to experience. The Shadow Isles are also going to be part of the set of this game.
Ruined King: A League of Legends story will be a story-driven turn-based role-playing game, and it will give fans an opportunity to see new places of the world in which our favorite League of Legends champions live. For example, you’ll be able to explore vaults and libraries in the mysterious Shadow Isles, as well as the Bilgewater Slaughter Docks.

Unfortunately, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story has been delayed and was not able to ship alongside the event, but now, after almost a year of radio silence from Riot Forge, we got this mysterious tweet.
