The Star Trek franchise continues to expand, with Picard wrapping up its latest season just earlier this year! While season 4 of Picard is still up in the air, the adventures of Captain Pike, Spock, and the rest of the USS Enterprise have already been confirmed for another season.

But when will we got Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3? With the Writers' strike having started just before production for the show was supposed to kick off, we might have to wait until 2025 before the show will release. Still, we already got some promising information that gets us all the more excited.

What is Star Trek: Strange New Worlds about? Star Trek: Strange New Worlds explores the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the USS Enterprise a decade before the original Star Trek series, as they explore new worlds and carry out missions throughout the galaxy.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 | When Can We Expect The Release?

The confirmation that Strange New Worlds would be renewed for another season happened during New York Comic Con 2023, when Alex Kurtzman, who oversees all Star Trek projects at Paramount+, assured fans that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 was “definitely” happening.

Season 3 was just about the start before the strike. So we’re we are now back on our feet and everything’s kind of getting resettled. Schedules are shifting around, but it’s definitely in the works, and we cannot wait.

The strike is still going strong, and until it is resolved, things are looking grim for the already confirmed sequel. Taking this into account, we expect Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 to release sometime in 2025, depending on how long the strike will continue.

Looking at Kurtman's statement, they're already doing whatever they can, trying to prepare production as good as possible. Seems like they are itching to continue the show after delivering one nasty cliffhanger with season 2.

Star Trek: Strange New World Season 3 Will Have To Resolve A Major Cliffhanger

Considering where season 3 left off, the showrunner will have to resolve the cliffhanger they left fans with.

If you don't remember, at the end of Star Trek: Strange New World season 2, Captain Pike was pretty much faced with his own Kobayashi Maru test, stuck between two impossible decisions. He could either, heed the commands of the Enterprise not to engage with the Gorn, or do whatever he can to save his people, that were captured by the “evil” lizard-men.

Being the hero that he is, Pike decides to try to save his crew. Season 3 will have to show us how he manages to save the day, as well as how things will unfold from there with the Gorn. There's also the fact that Captain Batel, Pike's love interest, has been implanted with Gorn eggs, so he will have to find a solution to that as well.

Which Cast Member Will Return For Star Trek: Strange New World Season 3

Thinking about who might make their return for the next adventure of the USSR Enterprise, we've comprised a list of the most promising candidates.

  • Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike
  • Ethan Peck as Spock
  • Jess Bush as Schwester Christine Chapel
  • Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. Joseph M'Benga
  • Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley
  • Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas
  • Christina Chong as La'An Noonien Singh
  • Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura

The return of Anson Mount as Captain Pike should be a given, and the same goes for the rest of the main cast. Besides that, we expect a lot of the other cast member to return as well, but you never know.
