Valorant’s official release date was revealed to be no other than June 2. Riot announced that a new game mode will be added and it could be Spike Rush.

In case you missed it, there was an interview with Anna Donlon and Joe Ziegler from Riot Games on the “thegameawards” Summer Fest. The duo answered some of the most popular questions and confirmed that a new agent and a new game mode will be making their way on June 2. That’s when Valorant will be released officially, which is significantly earlier than what we were led to believe by Riot for so long. Summer 2020, yeah right.

Data miners have previously provided interesting details regarding the new mode. Yesterday Donlon vaguely described it during the interview and said it definitely won’t be Team Deathmatch. Ziegler added that games in the new mode will be shorter than the regular ones which can often take over 40 minutes.

Let’s take a look at some of the leaks over the last month. First it was Valorant Leaks in early May.

Considering the Riot employees said it won’t be Team Deathmatch we can scratch this one off. Another Riot employee, Jared Berbach further confirmed the new mode won’t be Deathmatch, but it’ll potentially be added to the game.

Next up is the Spike Rush which was revealed by floxay who also uncovered the ranked medals before they were released.

Sure floxay could be wrong, but the information from this string ticks all boxes. The duration of the matches will be about 4 times lower than the classic mode and that’ll probably be thanks to the “speed boost”. The latter could mean increased move speed, spike plant and defuse speed, and more.

Riot’s latest blog post about Valorant also commented on the new game mode.

Having an alternative game mode by launch (or a few weeks thereafter) is on our to-do list, and we have a team thinking about what an ongoing rotation of game modes might look like.

Riot Games haven’t made any other announcements in the last few days so we’ll just have to wait for the next reveal. Worst case scenario it’ll all become clear on June 2. Stay tuned for more Valorant news and make sure to regularly check out EarlyGame for everything gaming and esports.
