Wrestling is known for its crazy Match stipulations. Now, AEW: Fight Forever revealed a trailer for the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match. Here is everything you need to know.
For every non wrestling fans, a headline like this might sound crazy. Why would somebody do something called an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch? But we assure you it happened, multiple times, even on Live TV. In a new gameplay trailer for AEW: Fight Forever, this match stipulation was shown. Here is everything you need to know about it.
AEW Fight Forever: Exploding Barbed Wire Deatchmatches
There are several match stipulation in the professional wrestling landscape, like submission-only matches, battle royals or ladder-matches. Also, there are hardcore matches in which nearly everything is allowed, for example using objects from outside the ring. But an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch might be one of the most extreme forms of hardcore wrestling. The stipulations are simple:
- Wrap barbed wire around the ring ropes
- Fill up the rinsgsides with objects wrapped in barbed wire
- Wrestlers will get electrical shots (exploding) when touching the barbed wire ropes or objects
- Set a timer, in this period of time one wrestler has to win the match
- Blow up the whole ring when the timer runs out
- No rules!
Hardcore matches like this are famous in the Japanese wrestling region, where a lot of AEW wrestlers had their first international breakthrough. There has been one match with this stipulation in AEW History so far. But now the stipulation was announced for AEW: Fight Forever in a short gameplay trailer.

In this trailer, we can see the two original wrestlers that were part of this match in real life as well –Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega, two of the biggest names in AEW at the moment. They're fighting in the ring, surrounded by barbed wire and spilled blood all over the ring mat.
AEW: Fight Forever Release Date
AEW Fight Forever is set to release on June 29 on PlayStation 4 and 5, PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The developers are promising more than 10 different gameplay modes like Battle Royals, Tag-Team matches and of course the Exploding Barbed Wire Death Matches.
Also, there will be differen online-modes for the multiplayer and an insane amount of customization options. Only the future will show if AEW: Fight Forever might become a contender for 2K's WWE series.
