Organized by G2 Esports, yesterday was the last official Valorant tournament during the game’s Closed Beta which comes to an end today.
Riot’s tactical shooter is almost out of its closed beta. Valorant servers are set to shut down today, May 28 and light back up on June 2, the date of the official release. The closed beta had its ups and downs and managed to gather player interest not only on Twitch but also in-game (for anyone who managed to get a key that is).
The last Valorant tournament of the closed beta concluded yesterday. The G2 Esports European Brawl II gathered a total of 10 teams and offered a prize pool of €12,500. While that may not seem like much when compared to other esports titles, Valorant isn’t even out yet. As the name of the tournament suggests this is its second edition. The first one took place exactly a month ago and had €10,000 in prize money. The champion’s title then went to Team Nordics.
Yesterday, the same team participated under a new name – Team Sweden. Sadly they didn’t manage to make it any further than the first stage of the playoffs where they were eliminated by Team Turkey. Turkey themselves lost in the next round against Team Finland. The latter made it to the grand finals where they faced their final opponent Team ScreaM. The best of three series was decided in only two matches, both of which were a stomp. The first one on Bind ended with a 13:4, while the second game on Split concluded with 13:7 in favor of ScreaM. The winning team consisted of:
- Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom
- Adam "ec1s" Eccles
- Ardis "ardiis" Svarenieks
- Jérôme "JEROME" Coupez
- David "davidp" Prins
Their victory was well deserved and in addition to the prize money they also get the bragging rights of winning the last event of the closed beta.

Chances are we’ll see more Valorant tournaments by G2 and other big organizations as teams from around the world are already waiting for Riot’s title to officially kick-off. The game’s launch next Tuesday (June 2) will add an additional map, a new agent, a new game mode, and more, so the meta might soon change.
