Chess is one of the most popular games on Twitch and now one of its stars - Hikaru Nakamura - has gone a step further and is under contract with TSM.
In the last few months, chess as a category has climbed higher and higher in the twitch charts. More and more amateurs and professionals started streaming their games or simply tried their hand at the game. Where better to learn and gather inspiration than on Twitch - especially in times of coronavirus.Probably the biggest chess streamer, Hikaru Nakamura, enthuses thousands of fans and has meanwhile over 500,000 followers on his Twitch channel. And that has its reasons! The young man has already won the American Chess Championship five times, is number 1 in the world ranking list in "blitz chess" and, by the way, holds the world record as the youngest grandmaster at the age of 15 - who´s better to watch than him?
Chess may not be the first choice for many when it comes to watching games, but because of the "blitz" and "fast chess" formats the games are incredibly fast and the intensity is much more tangible. In addition, Hikaru devotes himself to his viewers and diligently answers questions about his moves and the game in general - so it's worth checking out!
TSM is the first Esports organization in the world to sign a chess player, but certainly not the last. Especially "blitz" would be an esports-compatible format. Perhaps Cloud9 even really are working on signing their own chess grandmaster?

Have you also been watching chess games lately, or do you prefer to stick to classic Esports and gaming? We think the step on the part of TSM is great in any case and we are looking forward to future Chess Esports events.
