One day passed since the FaZe Clan Invitational concluded on Sunday. Today, August 11 the Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey is set to begin.
Team SoloMid took the champion’s title in the recent FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational that concluded over the weekend. The next Valorant event in line is coming much sooner than you think. To be more precise – it’s today. This time Riot’s tactical shooter takes us to Europe with the Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey (VAEO).
Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey
The European Valorant event will feature fewer teams than what we’re used to lately. Unlike the Mandatory.gg Cup where we saw 128, or the FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational that had 16, VAEO will only have a total of 6 teams. Despite that, the event will have an actual group stage after which the bottom two teams will leave the tournament. That’ll give us the remaining four in the playoffs and we can already make a good guess. Here are all the participants:
- G2 Esports
- Ninjas in Pyjamas
- Team Liquid
- Giants Gaming
- ZyppanGoKill
- BBL Esports
We clearly see four big organizations in G2, NiP, Liquid, and Giants. They all received a direct invitation, while the remaining two teams earned their spots through qualifiers. It’d be a nice twist if we see BBL Esports or ZyppanGoKill make it to the late stages of the playoffs.
The favorites to take the title in VAEO are without a doubt G2 Esports. The team has won every single event so far – Vitality European Open, WePlay! Invitational, Mandatory.gg Cup. Here the stage is much smaller and we doubt the organization’s win streak will come to an end.
The prize pool for the Valorant Allied Esports Odyssey stands at €15,000 and while that’s not too impressive the distribution surely is. A total of €4,500 will be distributed between the top 5 teams in the group stage while the remaining €10,500 will be spread between the top 3 in the playoffs. That’s really an interesting take and we personally think it’s a great way to reward smaller teams for their efforts.
It all starts TODAY! Day 1 of the @PlayVALORANT Ignition Series #AlliedEsportsOdyssey starts at 9amPST/6pmCET LIVE at https://t.co/DWOdFtQGUU pic.twitter.com/A2JfNO7acV

Live streams of the tournament will be available on Allied Esports Twitch channel and the official Valorant Twitch channel. The first series between Giants and NiP begins at 6:00 PM CEST so make sure you don’t miss it. The event is set to conclude on August 16, so expect a full week of competitive Valorant.
Sadly we still won’t be seeing Killjoy as the agent remains disabled for the duration of the event. The only thing we can do is wait it out until Riot decide she’s good to go.
