We just made an article about a potential Valorant closed beta yesterday and on the very same day Riot released official information about it. Coincidence? Yes. According to the studio, anyone who wants to join will have to acquire a key for themselves. Read on to find out how.
Valorant is supposed to release this summer and so far plans about that haven’t changed. Over the weekend Riot Games organized a closed-door online event limited to only pro players, content creators, and streamers. The game’s client also became available to download on the official Valorant website.

The list of regions which will be included in the beta is as follows:
- USA
- Canada
- Europe
- Russia
- Turkey
So how do I apply for the closed beta?
Riot wants players to log into their Riot accounts. Previously players only had one account, the League of Legends one, now the studio plans to use the same account for all their games which is an excellent idea. Once you log in the Valorant website you will be presented with these options.
The first thing you have to do is link your Riot and Twitch accounts. In case you don’t have a Twitch account it seems you’ll have to make one. After you’re done with that you’ll have wait until April 7 and find an eligible streamer which is playing Valorant. Viewers watching their stream will randomly receive a beta key. While Riot themselves mention the date April 7, most streamers have made it clear that key drops will start from April 3. The last thing you need to do is to download the client and install the game which requires roughly 7 GB of free space. Once you have the key, you’ll be able to play the upcoming shooter.
System requirements
As we’ve already noted before Valorant will probably run on a potato – quite literally. The game’s requirements are as low as they can get as even a 10-year-old laptop will be able to run it.
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
- RAM: 4GB
- CPU: Intel i3-370M
- GPU: Intel HD 3000 (1GB VRAM)
Regarding the duration of the closed beta, Riot mentioned that they’d like to keep it short and that they’re still aiming at a release in the summer.
In the meantime, just a couple of hours after the beta news, Riot also posted a video that gives us a tour around the office and all the people working on the project.
