Riot Games released their tactical shooter on June 2 and the game already received its first couple of hundred reviews on Metacritic. Opinions are mixed.
Valorant spent a few months in closed beta and the title had some issues. From server problems to the anti-cheat to various in-game bugs which were to be expected during a beta. The game’s official release came on June 2 and brought a new map, a new agent, a new game mode, a battle pass, and more.

With the launch also came some of the first pieces of feedback for the game. Valorant got bombed with negative reviews on Metacritic on the very same day of its release.
Whether those were genuine reviews from some of the closed beta testers or an unhappy mob from a rival FPS may never become clear. Some posts are short and simply insult Valorant, while others go into more detail often comparing it to CS:GO. Riot’s anti-cheat system, Vanguard, is also the subject of criticism among the comments.
i would leave this game a 5/5 but the kernel level for the anti cheat is just a bit much
Vanguard caused numerous issues during the closed beta and might continue to do so when the game is live. Part of those include – crashes, freezes, lower fps in other apps and BIOS interference which might disable cooling.
but the final nail in the coffin for me was the vanguard anti-cheat software, root level software is NEVER! okay and it interfered with the software my motherboard uses to monitor cpu/gpu temps and ramp fans accordingly as well as caused a few other games to freeze and have crashes due to Vanguard denying access to them moving assets around to memory
As with every story there are two sides, some will call the reviewers trolls while others will claim that the game was overhyped on Twitch. It’s true, Valorant broke viewership records on the streaming platform mainly due to the fact that everyone was trying to get a key for the closed beta by watching streams. The reviews on day 1 were mainly negative which led to a 3.2 average user score.
After a rough first day, things got considerably better. Valorant is currently sitting at a 5.4 user score and the amount of positive reviews is bigger than the negative ones. At the time of writing the game hasn’t yet received a Metacritic score. In comparison, CS:GO has a Metacritic score of 83 and a user score of 7.4. Overwatch stands at 91 and 6.5. Something tells us Valorant will get closer to those numbers sooner or later.
