The ultimate ability in Valorant can be a powerful tool if used correctly. You need to have the perfect timing in order to maximize your ultimate's potential – don’t just use it as soon as it is available. Perfectly timed ultimates can often win rounds and help you improve your ranking. Keep reading to find out when is the best time to use your Ultimate in Valorant with every Agent! Your team will give you a lot more love and a lot less flames!
Phoenix – Run It Back
What it does: Instantly place a marker at Phoenix's location. While this ability is active, dying or allowing the timer to expire will end this ability and bring Phoenix back to this location with full health.
If you are playing as an Attacker, always make sure to have an ally run directly behind you as soon as you activate your Ultimate. You can aggressively run in and check corners without any concern of being killed. Even if your enemies kill you, your teammate can trade you based on the information you provide.
This way, you will maximize the Ultimate's potential by providing both info and maybe even some frags. You can also use Ultimate to grab a Spike or a weapon and you will have it as soon as you respawn. As a Defender, try to save your Ultimate for retakes and clutch situations. You can also use it if you see the enemies are about to rush the site you are holding. Just make sure to hide your marker on the safe place.

Sage – Resurrection
What it does: Equip a resurrection ability. Fire with your crosshairs placed over an ally's corpse to begin resurrecting them. After a brief channel, the ally will be brought back to life with full health.
Resurrection is probably one of the best Ultimates in the game. There is no perfect timing to use this Ultimate as it can be beneficial at any stage of the game. That being said, it’s not smart to waste it if you have a 4vs1 situation.
On the other side, if the enemies have the man advantage, you can always even the odds by bringing one of your teammates back. In an ideal scenario, you want to resurrect the top fragger or someone who can help you win that round. Be aware of your surroundings and don’t even try to resurrect until you are certain no one is around. It is also good to use Barrier Orb as protection – better safe than sorry!
Viper – Viper’s Pit
What it does: Equip a chemical sprayer. Fire to spray a chemical cloud in all directions around Viper, creating a large cloud that reduces the vision range of players and maximum health of enemies inside of it.
Truth to be told, the Viper’s Pit Ultimate is only useful in post-plant situations. You can’t really use it in the mid game as it won’t bring you any real benefit. Better to go for it after capturing the site and plant the spike inside of the cloud.
However, be careful – your enemies will know that you are inside the cloud and they can use certain abilities to get you out. For example, Orbital Strike or Hunter’s Fury are both great counters for this Ultimate. Make sure to check if the remaining alive enemies have any of the counter Ultimates ready before activating Viper’s Pit.
Jett – Blade Storm
What it does: Equip a set of highly accurate throwing knives that recharge on an opponent. Fire to throw a single knife at your target. Alternative Fire to throw all remaining daggers at your target.
Jett’s Blade Storms are the perfect weapon for close and mid-range fights. The Blade Storm throwing knife has no recoil and you can be precise even while flying. This means you can try to jump in the air and surprise your enemies from above.
Another interesting thing about Blade Storm is that you can use it in two ways. You can either throw blades one by one or throw them all at the same time. Using them all at once is more accurate and a hit will always get you that kill. Don’t worry – after you get a kill, you will immediately be equipped with another set of knives. Therefore, the best timing to use this ability is when there are multiple enemies alive so you can use it multiple amounts of times.
Sova – Hunter’s Fury
What it does: Equip a bow with three long-range, wall-piercing energy blasts. Fire to release a blast in a line in front of Sova dealing damage and revealing the location of enemies caught in the line. This ability can be RE-USED up to two more times while the ability timer is active.
Hunter’s Fury is basically an Ultimate ability mostly used to shoot through walls. The perfect timing to use it depends on many factors. It does not matter if you use it in the beginning or at the end of the round, as long as you know where the enemies are at.
This is crucial – you can’t just randomly shoot through walls and hope for the result. Instead, use it only after you have successfully pinpointed the location of enemies. Recon Bolt is very useful for that.

Reyna – Empress
What it does: Instantly enter a frenzy, increasing firing, equip and reload speed dramatically. Gain infinite charges of Soul Harvest abilities. Scoring a kill renews the duration.
Reyna is the Agent of choice for highly-skilled players with good aim. Her Ultimate ability, Empress, transforms Reyna into a killing machine. It is important to use this Ultimate when there are multiple enemies alive. Every kill will heal you to the maximum amount of health and you can even become invisible for a few seconds – just enough to reposition.
That’s why her Ultimate is almost useless in 1v1 situations. It is best to use it in clutch situations or important rounds that you can’t afford to lose. Just don’t waste it on Eco and Anti-eco rounds.
