Ultimate abilities have to be used properly in order to triumph at Valorant, though if you only rely on them, you're toast. You need to know exactly when and how to use your Ultimate. Make sure to check out the first part of our Valorant Ultimates tutorial before reading this piece. In the first part, we covered the six most used Agents and their Ultimate abilities. Here, we will cover the remaining Agents, their Ultimates and how to use them the right way.
Breach – Rolling Thunder
What it does: Equip a Seismic Charge. Fire to send a cascading quake through all the terrain in a large cone. The quake dazes and knocks up anyone caught in it
Rolling Thunder is an Ultimate ability used for creating space. It allows you and your teammates to push on site safely. Use it to engage in battles, stun your enemies and reveal their position.
However, make sure that your teammates always run and follow behind you. Never use it if they are in front of you because it will affect them, too. As a Defender, you can use it to stop pushes or re-take sites in post-plant situations.
Brimstone – Orbital Strike
What it does: Equip a tactical map. Fire to launch a lingering orbital strike laser at the selected location, dealing high damage-over-time to players caught in the selected area.
The most common mistake the majority of players make is that they are trying to use Orbital Strike to get kills. It is really hard to get any kill with this weapon as it is relatively easy for your enemies to dodge it.
Instead, this Ultimate should be used primarily for taking space. Use it to clear space for your teammates to attack sites. You can even isolate haven on every map and force enemies out of it. It is also useful in post-plant situations to stop someone from defusing. As a Defender, use it to prevent pushes and activate it on key bottlenecks on the map during enemy rushes and you might even get some kills.
Cypher – Neural Theft
What it does: Instantly use on a dead enemy player in your crosshairs to reveal the location of all living enemy players.
Cypher's Ultimate is unique because it can only be used after a successful kill – Cypher needs a dead enemy in order to activate Neural Theft. Once activated, it will give information on enemy whereabouts for a certain amount of time.
If you are playing as a Cypher, make sure to let your teammates know before using your Ultimate. Everyone needs to be prepared in order to instantly look at the minimap and see where the enemy Agents are. Knowing which site is guarded and by how many enemies can help you decide where to attack. However, the enemy team will know that Cypher used it and they will probably reposition instantly, so you need to act fast.
Killjoy – Lockdown
What it does: Equip the Lockdown device. Fire to deploy the device. After a long windup, the device Detains all enemies caught in the radius. The device can be destroyed by enemies.
One of the most useless Ultimate abilities in this game is surely Lockdown. It can only be used for post-plant situations and is basically a waste of time at any other moment.
Use it after planting the Spike to keep your enemies away. You can also use it if you need to retake the site to drive away enemies further away. Alternatively, you can use it to delay pushes as a Defender but in most situations, it is not so smart to waste it on that.
Omen – From the Shadows
What it does: Equip a tactical map. Fire to begin teleporting to the selected location. While teleporting Omen will appear as a Shade that can be destroyed by an enemy to cancel his teleport. Press the ability key again to cancel the teleport.
Omen’s Ultimate allows him to teleport anywhere across the map. A lot of players use this ability in the early part of the round to teleport behind enemy lines and flank from behind.
Although this tactic may work on lower ranks, it is not so useful in anything above Gold – you won't catch your opponents with their pants down. Enemies will hear the teleportation and everyone will be looking for you.
Instead, it is better to use your Ultimate for fast rotations. Play as a lurker and then quickly rotate to help your teammates. Enemies will still have to check every corner as they won’t know where you are at. You can also use it to get free plants in 1vs1 situations or to rotate faster during retakes.
Raze - Showstopper
What it does: Equip a rocket launcher. Fire shoots a rocket that does massive area damage on contact with anything.
Raze’s Showstopper isn’t anything spectacular. It is a simple bazooka that can be used only once. It would be best if you combine your Ultimate with a C4 which will allow you to boost over walls and surprise the enemies.
This way, they won’t be ready for you and they won’t shoot you before you fire a missile. Even though killing multiple enemies with a single shot might seem like a dream come true, you need to understand that enemies won’t just stack together for you to get kills. Don’t be greedy, one kill is more than enough to get that advantage and win the round. You can also use this Ultimate to punish resurrections and stop pushes if you are a Defender.
Skye – Seekers
What it does: Equip a Seeker trinket. Fire to send out three Seekers to track down the three closest enemies. If a Seeker reaches its target, it nearsights them.
This Ultimate can be great for both Defending and Attacking. As an Attacker, you can use it to attack sites and see where the enemies are holding. It will also flash them so you can enter the site and face up to three flashed enemies. The flash will last for about 4 seconds which is similar to Paranoia.
As a Defender, you can use it to retake sites or to hold sites and delay any pushes. It can also be used as a flash in certain situations but it isn’t recommended to use it in that way.
