Valorant has agents with abilities, but weapons are still the most crucial aspect. Take a look at today's Valorant weapon guide, as we explore the Bucky.
At the moment, there are 17 weapons in Valorant, but we can expect Riot to add even more in the future. The variety is there: from the sniper to the shotgun, to the assault rifle. The tactical shooter lives up to its name, but which weapon is suitable for which agent? Which strategy should one pursue with which weapon and what is the spray pattern, damage, and the rate of fire? Read on to find out.
Bucky - The Eco Shotgun
It is the cheapest primary weapon in Valorant - so it is not necessarily considered to be particularly good, but the Bucky also has its strengths. It's perfect for equipping yourself in the first few rounds and for eco-rounds where you save money for the next ones. It also does some good damage in close range if you can handle it well. Even though the weapon is designed for close range, it doesn't mean you have to get close to your opponent all the time. Sometimes you'll just need to finish off a wounded foe.
Damage, Fire Rate, Spray Pattern
Watch out, here comes the damage! The Bucky is a true beast at close range. One shot is often enough and the target is knocked down - and no, you don't always have to really hit the head for that. The shotgun's magazine holds five shots, which in turn consist of 15 pellets each. Even when half the pellets manage to connect with your target it'll be down in most cases. The trade for such serious firepower is the Bucky's slow rate of fire. It takes 1.1 seconds until the next shot can be fired. This means that in the majority of the time you'll have at the most 2 shots to land (if your opponent isn't terrible). If you miss with your first shot, you'll probably pay dearly for it. The damage scaling of the Bucky is as follows: At 0 to 8 meters, the weapon does 44 damage on headshots, 22 on the body, and 19 on the legs. Between 8 to 12 meters 34, 17, 14, and at a distance of 12 to 50 meters 18, 9, 8. At medium range, the alternative firing mode is recommended, which can be useful between 10 and 12 meters. The spray pattern of the Bucky is typical of a shotgun: deadly and precise at close range (up to 8 meters), imprecise and with a high spread at longer distances. Just make sure you use the alternate mode between 8 and 12m as you'll still be able to one-shot a target with it. The regular one won't quite cut it.

Bucky Strategy
After a look at the damage figures, it becomes clear that the Bucky is most likely to be successful at close range. That's why it's also important to get as close as possible to your goals. Due to the low rate of fire, however, it is unwise to simply run around corners and approach your opponents loudly. Bucky is especially deadly in the hands of clever hide-and-seek players, who huddle behind doors and walls to eliminate a passing enemy from behind. Sure, this is not the honorable eye to eye duel but it certainly gets the job done. In most cases, once you kill an enemy, you'll be better off picking their weapon.
Tip: Attackers and defenders can use the Bucky to hide near the bomb and then eliminate enemies who are trying to get to the location.

When Should You Buy the Bucky?
With its 900 credits, Bucky is the cheapest primary weapon. Equipping yourself with it will leave you some money to purchase additional shields or skills. In summary, the Shotgun in Valorant is especially worthwhile in eco-rounds, where you save credits for later, or at the beginning of the game. Just don't forget to drop it if you see a better weapon.
The Best Agents for the Bucky
Agents that prefer hiding places and surprise attacks are especially suited for the Bucky. This often has to do with the playing style of the respective player. But the fact remains that agents with good map awareness benefit from the weapon and the hide-and-seek play style. Cypher, for example. He's got plenty of vision and can easily surprise enemies with a shotgun to the face. Another good choice is Omen, as he can flank and take out more than one enemy with the shotgun.
