The Stage 3 Challengers 1 Europe just came to an end with Acend taking the champions title after a contested grand final. Here's what happened.

The Valorant Champions Tour is back with the first major event in Stage 3. Challengers 1 Europe kicked off on July 7 and came to an end today, July 11. After a full week of competitive Valorant, we finally have the winners. We already saw some unexpected twists a few days earlier when Fnatic and Team Liquid got eliminated. Here's what happened in the grand final.

The Winners of Stage 3 Challengers 1 Europe

Acend made it to the grand finals through the upper bracket with victories over Rix.GG Thunder, FunPlus Phoenix, and Guild Esports. The same can't be said about G2 Esports, as the team had a rough start with a loss versus FunPlus Phoenix. G2 then had to go through the lower bracket, and it cost them a lot of effort. On their way to the grand final, G2 Esports defeated Rix.GG Thunder, Fnatic, FunPlus Phoenix, and Guild Esports. In the end, it was Acend vs. G2 Esports.

The first two maps of the grand final were as one-sided as it gets, and Acend took a solid 2:0 lead. G2 Esports showed some signs of life on the third map and managed to win it. The fourth map in the series was Haven, and it spelled make or break for G2. Avova made some big plays, but it wasn't enough. Many fans thought this might be the beginning of a reverse sweep, but they were wrong as Acend brought it home with a final score of 3:1. Acend's victory earned them a spot at the Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs and €15,000 in prize money.

G2 Esports made some serious changes to their Valorant roster right before the start of Stage 3, and it certainly paid off. While they didn't take first place, we'll be seeing more of them at the next event.

If you missed the series, you can watch the full video on the official Valorant Twitch channel.
