The NSG x Renegades Valorant Invitational has ended and Andbox proved they were the best team in the tournament.

The Valorant pro scene has been a bit stale lately after the end of the initial Ignition Series. Riot Games already announced their next big event with First Strike. The company even revealed some more details just recently. In the meantime, it’s nice to see third party events even if they’re not part of the official competitive season. Such is the case with the NSG x Renegades Valorant Invitational that happened over the course of the weekend.

NSG x Renegades Valorant Invitational

The event was organized by Nerd Street Gamers and Renegades. NSG have already earned a name for themselves as they’ve been behind numerous other Valorant tournaments. The Invitational featured 16 teams (12 direct invitations) competing for a total prize pool of $10,000. Here are all the teams that took part:

  • Renegades
  • Immortals
  • Cloud9
  • FaZe Clan
  • Luminosity Gaming
  • Rise
  • Gen.G Esports
  • Equinox Esports
  • Complexity Gaming
  • Mamba Mode Gaming
  • T1
  • Time In
  • Spacestation Gaming
  • beastcoast
  • Moon Raccoons
  • Andbox

As you can see, some of the biggest esports in North America were there. It’s hard to say who was the favorite to take the title but many thought it’d be T1, Gen.G, FaZe, C9 or Immortals. All the famous teams performed well in the group stage and made it to the playoffs. Gen.G, T1 and FaZe didn’t even lose a game until that point but that’s when the real twists came.

The underdogs, Andbox, surprised everyone. A team that made it to the event through a qualifier, managed to reach the grand finals where they faced Immortals. The latter stood no chance in the final clash of the event as Andbox took the series 2-0. The champion line up consisted of:

  • Bradley "ANDROID" Fodor
  • Jaccob "yay" Whiteaker
  • Aaron “b0i” Thao
  • Sebastian "seb" Bucki
  • Jake "POACH" Brumleve
  • Matt "Warden" Dickens (coach)

It comes as no surprise that most of the roster are coming from a CS:GO background. That also raises the question of why T1 didn’t manage to perform as well?

The next big event for Valorant will be First Strike. Qualifiers are set to begin soon and the regional finals will come in early December. Are you excited about it? Tell us on our Facebook page!
