Valorant's patch 2.08 is set to make some serious changes to the title by adding coaching slots into the game. Is a spectator mode also on the way?

Valorant's patch 2.07 was released a few days ago, and it turned out to be absolutely identical to the leak from last week. Many hoped that another recent leak regarding coaching slots will also be true, but there's no more need for that: Riot Games officially confirmed it. A leak of the feature was previously posted on Twitter by Valorant Leaks and as usual, it turned out to be true.

Coaching Slots Confirmed by Riot

In the latest Ask Valorant blog post Riley Yurk revealed that coaching slots are coming to Valorant:

It’s official, coaching slots are coming in patch 2.08! As an esport, we continue to be excited at the prospect of coaches playing a larger role in matches and plan to provide more analytical tools in the future. Overall, we see the coach and player relationship as an important dynamic in our esport. We have some ideas on where we want to take this and will be talking with players (specifically In-Game Leaders) and Coaches in the near future to solidify our plans. What you’ll see in 2.08 is the basic foundation of this feature and something we plan to continuously innovate on. We look forward to evolving coaching and its supporting features with help from VCT participants.

Coaching slots might be exactly what we're thinking - the option for team coaches to enter the game and spectate their team. After all, what else could it be? In any case, the Valorant esports is about to get a lot better.

What about spectator mode?

The introduction of coaching slots with the upcoming patch 2.08 leads to another question - what about the casual players and spectator mode? Right now if your friends are playing the only way you can watch them is through a stream. Enabling a spectator mode will be quite an improvement for Valorant as it's one of the major drawbacks when compared to CS:GO.

The spectator mode is a widely used feature in many other competitive titles like CS:GO and Dota 2. Spectators usually have a few minutes of delay to prevent them from interfering in any way. Another benefit of a potential spectator mode for the esports scene is that players will be able to directly watch their favorite players without the need to enter a live stream. That's especially good for anyone with a bad internet connection. What do you think? Tell us on Twitter!
