The young esports title Valorant is getting a steady influx. With Evil Geniuses, one of the first large esports organizations has now introduced a mixed roster of two women and three men as their EG Valorant roster. With Christine "potter" Chi, a female CS World Champion leading the squad.
Although esports offers the perfect environment for women and men to compete with and against each other, female, or even mixed, rosters are still the absolute exception. Why is that? Esports isn't about physical strength, physique, etc., what counts here is reaction speed and concentration - so why not mixed teams?
EG's Valorant team
That's probably what the well-known esports organization Evil Geniuses thought. It recently unveiled its EG Valorant roster, making it one of the first major esports orgs with a mixed roster featuring both male and female players.
You know we couldn't sit this one out. Introducing our official @ValorantEsports Champions Tour roster: @omgitspotter@aleksandarosa@claudiache12@TemperatureCSGO@OsiasPHThe team will be kicking off their 2021 season TODAY in the VCT Open Qualifier. #LIVEEVIL pic.twitter.com/q5Ry4Ox4iU

The team consists of Nolan "Temperature" Pepper, Aleksandar "aleksandar" Hinojosa, Ronan "Osias" Javelona, Claudia "Clawdia" Che, and team leader Christine "potter" Chi. Temperature and aleksandar played for Moon Raccoons and have been able to beat teams like FaZe and Andbox in the past. Osias is an incredible Omen player who has also racked up some tournament wins with Mamba Mode Gaming. The female duo of Clawdia and potter comes from GX3, who made it to the finals in FTW Summer Showdown, where they lost to MAJKL. Seven-time Counter-Strike World Champion potter will take the lead of the EG Valorant roster and is looking forward to forming a strong team.
We want our own team!
Evil Geniuses' CEO, Nicole LaPointe Jameson, said that from the beginning they had been looking at a large number of players and how to create the best possible roster - a mixed roster seemed to be the most promising.
Esports Director Greg Kim also confirmed that it was important to the organization to build its own roster and not take over an already existing one. When they heard that potter was looking to switch to Valorant, it was the perfect starting point for the Evil Geniuses Valorant roster. The team has their debut already today at the VCT Open Qualifier. We are excited to see what EG Valorant has to offer.
