Over the course of the weekend, we saw plenty of Valorant action in the competitive scene. While North America underwent qualifiers for the VCT Stage 2 Challengers 2, teams in Europe were already playing the same event. Fnatic proved they are the best!

The last time we reported on the Valorant EU scene, G2 Esports had just made it into the Challengers 2 event, after exacting their revenge on Heretics in the qualifiers. After the latter we had a clear list of teams taking part in the Challengers 2 tournament:

  • Fnatic
  • G2 Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Team Vitality
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Acend
  • BDS
  • CE Calling

G2 Esports would've been one of the favorites to take first place if the event was happening in 2020. Lately, the team's performance in the Valorant scene isn't what it used to be anymore, and it came to no surprise that they got eliminated on the first day. The four teams that dropped after the quarterfinals were: Acend, G2 Esports, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and CE Calling.

This left us with Vitality vs. Fnatic and Team BDS vs. Team Liquid in the semi-finals. Fnatic took a decisive victory over Vitality and ended the series 2:0. In the meantime, Team Liquid did a reverse sweep against Team BDS, concluding it with 2:1. This left us with Fnatic vs. Liquid in the grand finals of EU Challengers 2.

Fnatic Take It Home

Fnatic's two series before the grand final were both 2:0, and Liquid was the only team to take a map from them.

Recently, Fnatic benched two players and added Martin "Magnum" Peňkov and Nikita "Derke" Sirmitev. The MVP of the tournament was Fnatic's Martin "Magnum" Peňkov who outperformed everyone else in the final map of the series. Liquid might have lost the finals, but they shouldn't be too sad about it, as both Fnatic and Liquid earned a spot for the VCT Stage 2 EMEA Challengers Finals.

When Are the EMEA Challengers Finals

The event will commence on April 23 and conclude on May 2, giving us over a week of competitive Valorant. The full list of teams for the Challengers Finals is also clear:

  • Fnatic
  • Team Liquid
  • Guild Esports
  • FunPlus Phoenix
  • Futbolist
  • Oxygen Esports
  • BBL Esports
  • Gambit Esports

It'll offer €85,500 in prize money but more importantly, the top two teams will also qualify for the VCT Stage 2 Masters Reykjavík, which is the tournament many are looking forward to. Which two teams do you think will make it to Iceland? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!
