Valorant players are waiting for the start of Episode 3 Act 1 on June 22, and with it comes a brand-new agent. Recent leaks revealed KAY/O as a potential candidate, but is the robot really agent 16?
Agent 16 in Valorant was initially supposed to arrive with the release of Episode 2 Act 3, but Patch 2.08 was an exception to the rule. This left fans speculating who the next agent could be. We've had to guess for the past few months, but most recently, Riot Games dropped some serious hints.
All We Know About Agent KAY/O
It all started with data miners and the name "Grenadier".

About two weeks later, Riot gave us some more clues about the new agent in one of their blog posts.
This time around we are throwing in some abilities that should feel familiar to folks who’ve played traditional FPS games their whole lives, but with added elements that will make those recognizable abilities unique within our roster. This is an Agent who’s utility can create moments where you must rely on your gunplay.
The first real teaser came about ten days ago, when players noticed a dagger stuck in a box. Without a doubt, it was one of the future agent's abilities.

Two days later, on June 10, the official Valorant Twitter account released a short teaser trailer for the agent, where we could clearly see a robot rebooting. The question was: is this the next agent?

We now have the answer that it was indeed an upcoming agent, but is it really agent 16? It sure looks like it.

Today we saw even more images of the new agent, along with the reveal of his name - KAY/O. There's just one inconsistency,KAY/O's poster shows the number 17, instead of 16. Take a look for yourself.
See that number at the top? As expected, KAY/O will fill the role of Initiator, which fits to what we expected from agent 16. Perhaps we'll finally get a viable alternative to the dominance of Sova in most games.
When is the Valorant Agent 16/KAY/O Release Date?
The next Valorant agent is coming in less than a week with the start of Episode 3 Act 1 on June 22. We'll also be seeing a dev live stream a day earlier. For now, it certainly looks likeKAY/O will be Valorant's agent 16. Then again, Riot Games might be planning a double agent release to make up for the one we didn't get in the current Act (highly unlikely).
