The Red Bull Home Ground Valorant tournament kicked off last week and concluded yesterday. G2 Esports continued to dominate the region and took the first place!

Red Bull’s Home Ground offered a new take in terms of the format in the Valorant competitive scene. Teams weren’t just doing a regular Bo5 series. No, no. Each of the participants picked their favorite map and if one team won their own “Home Ground” and their opponent’s they’d automatically win the series.

Some of the best teams were gathered in the Red Bull event:

  • G2 Esports
  • Team Liquid
  • Ninjas in Pyjamas
  • Guild Esports
  • Sumn FC
  • Futbolist
  • Monkey Business
  • FrenzyGoKill

G2 Esports and Team Liquid were among the favorites for the title. G2 started with a Home Ground victory over FrenzyGoKill and then eliminated Ninjas in Pyjamas in the semifinals. Liquid claimed a Home Ground victory over Guild Esports and then had a contested series with SUMN FC but ultimately took it 3:2.

The two teams met in the grand finals and the end of the event was as exciting as everyone hoped. It took a total of five games, the maximum in a Bo5 match, to determine a winner and G2 took the title with their third victory which was on Ascent.

This is the seventh title for G2 Esports in Valorant and their streak in Europe continues after their disappointing First Strike Europe placement. Despite the latter, G2 are still considered the best Valorant team in Europe.

Over the weekend it became clear that the Swedish Alliance is also ready with their Valorant roster. Will the two major orgs be soon clashing at the top?
