The Stage 3 Challengers 1 North America came to an end over the weekend with Sentinels taking first place. Here's what happened in the grand finals.
The Valorant Champions Tour is back with the first major event in Stage 3. Challengers 1 North America kicked off on July 8 and came to an end yesterday, July 11. After nearly a week of competitive Valorant, we finally have the winners – Sentinels. The North American team that won the Stage 2 Masters Reykjavik proved once again: they're the top dogs in the region.
The Winners of Stage 3 Challengers 1 North America
Sentinelswere the top team in previous events and expectations were set high for the first tournament of Stage 3. Their first series against Gen.G was quite contested, but in the end, Sentinels prevailed. The surprise came later when XSET managed to knock down Sentinels to the lower bracket. XSET went on to defeat 100 Thieves in the upper bracket final and earned a spot at the big finale.

In the meantime, Sentinels had to make their way through the lower bracket, where they outclassed every team they met. Sentinels defeated Pioneers, Team Envy, and 100 Thieves without losing a single map. The NA favorites made it to the grand final and wanted to have a word with XSET. The first map of the final series was Haven and XSET managed to take it with a final score of 13:9.

What followed was a reverse sweep by Sentinels, as they won the next three maps and sealed the deal. Sentinels' victory earned them a spot at the Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs and $20,000 in prize money.

Almost all the maps were close calls, but Sentinels were just the better team.

Half of the teams that took part in North America Stage 3 Challengers 1 main event get a direct invitation to Stage 3 Challengers 2:
- Rise
- Version1
- Gen.G Esports
- Pioneers
In the meantime, the top four of the event are in a much better spot with a guaranteed slot for the NA Stage 3 Challengers Playoffs:
- Sentinels
- XSET
- 100 Thieves
- Team Envy
XSET proved that Sentinels aren't invincible, and we'll see the two teams in the next big event again. 100 Thieves also had a good run and certainly showed potential. The four teams that already earned a spot in the Challengers Playoffs can now take a well-deserved rest. The tournament is roughly a month away and the competition there will be fierce, as everyone wants to get a ticket to Berlin.
