Valorant is already over a year old. Riot's tactical shooter received a lot of changes over the past twelve months, but there's one feature that's still missing – Tactical Timeout.
Riot's tactical shooter is eerily similar to CS:GO in terms of weapon economy and objectives. It's also quite different in other aspects. What really sets it apart are the various agents, each with their unique personality and abilities that are basically the equivalent of utility. In terms of features, CS:GO still has the upper hand, especially when it comes to tactical timeouts – something Valorant players will be eager to see.
What's a Tactical Timeout?
If you've never played CS:GO, you might be wondering – what the hell is atactical timeout? The best equivalent are timeouts in traditional sports like basketball and volleyball. Tactical timeouts allow players to vote and take a break from the round in order to discuss their strategy further. Sure sounds like something you'd find in a tactical shooter, right? Sadly, Valorant doesn't have it where it's most needed.

Are Tactical Timeouts coming to Valorant?
Technically speaking, Valorant already has tactical timeouts, but only for custom tournament matches. This means the feature is limited to pro players and streamers that take part in official tournaments. Many of us hoped that Riot would eventually add tactical timeouts to regular online competitive matches, but we are still waiting on that.

Everyone can have an emergency during online games, and the addition of tactical timeouts can be a total game-changer. It can be the difference between your team mindlessly hating you for being AFK for a minute and totally understanding that you have to do something real quick. CS:GO players get to enjoy a 2-minute tactical time out per team, per game, and it's unclear if Riot will decide to go the same way with competitive. For the tournament version, Valorant players get:
- 2 tactical timeouts per game, per team.
- Tactical timeouts last 60 seconds.
- Tactical timeouts freeze all movements for the duration.
At the time of writing, there's no official confirmation from Riot Games on the topic, and fans are just left waiting. Perhaps today's patch will be a pleasant surprise in that regard? What are your thoughts on the matter? Should tactical timeouts be a thing in competitive Valorant? Should they be left only for tournaments? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!
