The latest Valorant tournament is Twitch Rivals Valorant Series 1. The event is already underway and the group stage is halfway through. Which teams will make it to the playoffs?

In case the Valorant Champions Tour wasn't enough for you, the Twitch Rivals Valorant Series is here to provide you with even more competitive action in the North American region. The tournament kicked off yesterday (February 24) and half the matches in the group stage were already played out. The Twitch Rivals event offers $50 000 in prize money. It's all set to conclude on March 10.

Let's start by taking a look at the eight participants.

  • Team aceu (aceu, TenZ, blaustoise, kyedae, Red)
  • Team FearItsSelf (FearItsSelf, keeoh, branted, Spot, Hira)
  • Team moczy (moczy, SmaceTRON, Mainey, beNITA, byung)
  • Team QuarterJade (QuarterJade, masayoshi, starsmittens, joshizzle, rongchotv)
  • Team RayC (RayC, nvK, tenzin, harmful, ezpk)
  • Team Sonii (Sonii, sgares, Laski, Shiphtur, Timmy)
  • Team ploo (ploo, deky, Jake'N'Bake, agito, kyro)
  • Team Tiffae (Tiffae, ricesoo, Pterodactylsftw, yassuo, flexinja)

Looking at the list there aren't a whole lot of famous pro players in it with a few exceptions – the most notable one being Tyson "TenZ" Ngo. The latter played for Cloud9's Valorant squad, before announcing his departure from competitive play in order to focus on streaming.

Format

The group stage is a best of three with the eight teams split into two groups of four. By the end of it, one team from each group will be eliminated and that will leave us with six teams in the playoffs. The latter will feature a single-elimination bracket and Bo3 series (even the grand final).

Most of the group stage matches were already played out and there are clear leaders in each of the groups. Here are the results so far:

Teams ploo, Sonii and Aceu are definitely going to the playoffs. Moczy will probably get eliminated in group B and either QuarterJade or FearItSelf will be bidding farewell from group A. When it comes to actual favorites to take the title, it's probably Team Aceu. It's not just the fact they have TenZ on it but also because of captain Brandon “aceu” Winn, who competed in Apex Legends before retiring in order to focus on streaming (just like TenZ). We're expecting them to carry the team to victory in the finals.
