Let's start with the fact that when we are using the Regrowth ability, we heal all allies near us – yup, all of them. Moreover, even though the ability only has one charge, we can use it until our "ability bar" runs out, which actually gives a total of 5 seconds of its use with a heal value of 20 HP per second. It all sounds great, but it's also worth mentioning that Skye cannot perform any action while using this ability, and this is where it loses out to Sage's healing orb.
Trailblazer

Tiger Health | 100 HP |
Damage | 30 |
Minimum Concussion Duration | 2.5 seconds |
Maximum Concussion Duration | 4 seconds |
Trailblazer is an ability very similar to Raze's Boombot, while slightly inferior because it deals less damage and is easier to destroy due to the fact that the dog is larger. And of course, this ability is more expensive, as it costs 300 Credits. However, something that Trailblazer wins with is the fact that you can control its movement and explosion, and it has an extra concussing effect like the one Breach has in his ability kit. We can also use Trailblazer to check a given position for the presence of potential enemies, which is one of the most signature things for the Initiator class.
You should also keep in mind that Skye is exposed to danger while using Trailblazer, so it's essential to ensure that you cover a good position to avoid being seen by your enemies.
Guiding Light (Signature Ability)
Official Ability Description: EQUIP a hawk trinket. FIRE to send it forward. HOLD FIRE to guide the hawk in the direction of your crosshair. RE-USE while the hawk is in flight to transform it into a flash that plays a hit confirm if an enemy was within range and line of sight.

This ability issimply a flashbang, which we can control – both in terms of its movement trajectory and the moment of explosion. It's worth noting that as of the 5.07 update, Guiding Light cannot be destroyed, making it one of the strongest flashbangs in the game. If you ensure a good communication with your Duelists, this ability can easily ensure you an entry to any Spike Site. Just like with other abilities, you can't perform any action until your hawk explodes, so once again – make sure to take a good and safe position.
Seekers (Ultimate Ability)
Official Ability Description: EQUIP a Seeker trinket. FIRE to send out three Seekers to track down the three closest enemies. If a Seeker reaches its target, it nearsights them.
Default Key | X |
Cost | 7 Ult Points |
Seeker Health | 150 HP |
Blind Duration | 3 seconds |
Slow Debuff Duration | 5 seconds |
Lastly, we have Skye's Ultimate Ability, which works as a great tool to provide valuable information about the enemy team and slow them down.
Skye will spawn as many trinkets as there are enemies alive in the situation, and each trinket of them will find the shortest path to get to each enemy. It's an excellent ability in any situation, so we recommend using it as soon as you collect your Ultimate points. Moreover, Seekers are easily destroyable, but you can use it to your advantage! One trick that we also love doing is following one of our Seekers, and waiting for the enemy to shoot them, so we can jump out of the corner and score a frag.
How To Play Skye?
Plan It Out
With how versatile and strong your ability kit is, you can't just throw everything away randomly. Of course, there will be stressful situations that will require you to throw a quick Guiding Light or Trailblazer, but usually, you should prepare for possible scenarios that may happen during a round and wait with your ability kit for them. This is what makes Skye pretty challenging to pilot for new players, as they don't really know what to expect from other Agents.
Initiate
Just as the name of your class suggests, you should initiate a lot of action and direct your team in some way. After all, they will be needing your ability kit to enter, retake or protect the Spike Sites, and you should know best how to use them effectively. Usually, if the Sentinel or Controller player tells you what to do, and you go at it, you won't get much out of your kit, and it's worth remembering that virtually all of your abilities are quite expensive.
Stay At The Back of Sites
Skye's ability kit is best in late game situations when you need to defend or retake the Spike Site. However, if you want to participate in the late game, you need to survive the early game first, which is why you want to stay away from combat as long as possible. Plus, your abilities such as Guiding Light or Trailblazer block you from performing any action, which is why you don't want to be so exposed. In conclusion, if you are playing Skye, be prepared to camp a lot if you care about winning games.
All in all, Skye is a versatile agent who excels in healing and can fit into many different team compositions. Whether you need to fill in for a fallen Duelist or support your team without Sage or Sova, Skye has got you covered. Be sure to check out our other Valorant Agent guides:
