Riot's tactical shooter, Valorant, just got the new map Breeze with the arrival of patch 2.08. Now, data miners have uncovered a "downed" mechanic which could be used in an upcoming battle royale mode.
Valorant's number of playable modes has increased over the past year since the game came out of closed beta. You have the regular plant and defuse (ranked and unrated), Deathmatch, Spike Rush, and Escalation. So what could be next? Apparently, a battle royale, or at least that's what the latest leak leads us to believe.
Valorant's Downed Mechanic
Prominent Valorant data miner ValorLeaks has revealed that there's a new mechanic in the game files.
Downed Information | #VALORANT ~ Downed health: 100HP~ Max Downed Time: 15 Seconds~ When revived, you will have 50HP.~ You can revive from 2M away.~ When you get near a player "REVIVE" will show, and while reviving you will see "REVIVING..."~ Reviving Takes 2 Seconds pic.twitter.com/OR2ZEsYEXS

What's the downed mechanic? In general, we see it often used in different battle royale games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, and others. When a teammate loses all their health they don't die but get downed instead. In that state, they can no longer fight back and have limited mobility. The Valorant downed mechanic is eerily similar:
- Downed health: 100HP
- Max Downed Time: 15 Seconds
- When revived, you will have 50HP.
- You can revive from 2M away.
- When you get near a player "REVIVE" will show, and while reviving you will see "REVIVING..."
- Reviving Takes 2 Seconds
This means that anyone will be able to revive a downed teammate and not only Sage like in the regular modes.
Will Valorant Have A Battle Royale?
The first and most logical line of thought here is that Riot are already testing out a potential battle royale mode for Valorant. That wouldn't be too much of a stretch since a Valorant battle royale was rumored at some point in the past but never officially confirmed by Riot Games.
Rumor: #Valorant's battle royale is being tested by a small group of players as of last week.In any case, it's confirmed there's some kind of exclusive testing with the Chinese players atm.

If that's really the case, Valorant has plenty of agents and abilities to make a future battle royale mode interesting. What do you think? Will a battle royale mode work in Valorant? Tell us on Facebook or Twitter!
