Valorant is wrapping up 2020 with Patch 1.14 and it seems like the next big update will be coming in early January. Here’s what you can expect in Patch 1.15!
Patch 1.14 brought a lot to Valorant including Sage changes, tweaks to the latest map Icebox, and a brand-new mode with Snowball Fight. So, what’s coming in the 1.15 update? Here are our predictions. Considering the next patch will probably align with the release of Episode 2 we can expect some major changes.
New Agent
At this point in time, it’s almost certain that the next agent to join the Valorant roster will be no other than Shatter. We’ve already covered what we know about him but here’s a short summation. He’s hailing from Brazil, he’ll be a duelist as confirmed by Riot themselves, and his kit will give him stealth and the ability to make a clone. Neat ain’t it?
The year will tear open with a Duelist for all you “lurkers” out there, who will keep you on your toes around which angles are truly safe.
Changes to the Store / Night Market
Most recently Riot Games added the Night Market. A special individualized list of offers for each player. Everyone gets a different set of deals and they reset after 32 days. While it seems great in theory a lot of players felt the RNG is simply too much of a factor in it. Perhaps the biggest issue in the Night Market is that you’ll often get multiple skins for the same weapon (that you might not be playing with at all).
The Gun Meta
Valorant has been out for some time now and it’s no surprise that some weapons are considered top tier while others are frowned upon. Popular picks in almost every game include Operator, Phantom, and Vandal. You’ll rarely see something else and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The same thing can be seen in CS:GO where AWP, AK-47, and M4 are favorite picks.
Still, sometimes it feels like the gun meta is rather stale and it’d be nice to see some buffs that’ll encourage players to experiment more. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to even add some new weapons.
More Game Modes
The Snowball Fight mode was great and all, but it only lasted during the holidays. Now it’s back to ground zero. Previously Riot Games spoke of their intentions to bring Social Game Modes into Valorant that’ll be more about fun than actually winning. That’s one thing CS:GO still has an edge over Valorant as custom community maps offer endless possibilities. Valorant doesn’t support that feature so it’s entirely up to the devs to bring some fresh air.
A New Valorant Map
We already got Icebox in October, but it has been over three months since then. For that period the map got some layout changes that were well received by the community. Patch 1.15 will bring in not just a new Act but a new Episode so maybe a new map is in order. Valorant has the obligatory Venice and Ice maps, maybe it’s time to spice things up with some fire?
