With our "Player of the Month" series, we introduce you to some of the best players, streamers, and content creators in Valorant. Today we present you with ShahZaM.
Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan is a famous Valorant pro player from North America. Much like many of the other Valorant pros, ShahZam played CS:GO beforehand. His competitive experience took him through some of the biggest events and organizations that the region had to offer. Among the more notable teams he has played for, we find TSM, Optic Gaming, Misfits, Complexity, Cloud9, and others. In late 2019, he was benched by Complexity and some time later, he decided to become a free agent. Less than six months later, Riot introduced Valorant and ShahZam joined the roster of Sentinels in later April 2021.
I spent half of my life playing CS, it’ll always be a huge part of me. I started out in the days of mIRC and played in CAL before it died, I don’t think people realize how long I’ve played. CS fans tend to be more hardcore and I’m seeing a lot of hate on the switch but it’s ok, I understand. I feel like the entire last year of my CS career was a waste and it left me unsatisfied.
ShahZaM in Valorant
ShahZam was part of the initial Sentinels team and over a year later, he's still an important part of the squad. In fact, Sentinels have only made a single change to their starting roster when sinatraa was banned by Riot. That's when they signed TenZ and the team started performing even better. Like anyone thought that was possible. Overall, the switch to Valorant, proved to be a great decision for ShahZaM.
He's also the in-game leader for Sentinels and their results speak for themselves. The team has only a couple of losses, while everything else is titles.
ShahZaM and Sentinels
At this point, there's no doubt that North America is the most competitive region for Valorant. You can probably guess which team is sitting at the top of the best region – Sentinels.
Together with ShahZaM, Sentinels proved time and time again that they have what it takes. The team won the biggest international tournament in Valorant – Stage 2 Masters Reykjavik. With the start of Stage 3, Sentinels secured first place in the first Challengers event and earned a spot directly at the Challengers Playoffs. Their tickets to the Stage 3 Masters Berlin are almost guaranteed. With ShahZaM as captain, there's not much that can go wrong.
Why is ShahZaM the Valorant Player of the Month?
Like most successful Valorant pro players, ShahZaM started his professional career in CS:GO. He was part of the original Sentinels Valorant team, and together with the squad they've dominated the most competitive region in the game. With ShahZaM as IGL, Sentinels found multiple victories in North America and on the international stage. Last but not least, ShahZaM is also a player with sportsmanlike behavior. You can check his stream and find some useful content on ShahZaM's official Twitch channel.
