With our "Player of the Month" series, we introduce you to some of the best players, streamers, and content creators in Valorant. Today we present you with Hiko.

Spencer "Hiko" Martin is a famous pro player from the US. For the most part of his career, he played Valve's CS:GO. Hiko's career kicked off at some point before 2011 with the original Counter-Strike. He then continued to play CS:GO for many years with some of the most famous NA organizations like Complexity Gaming, Cloud9, Team Liquid, and Rogue. He last played for the latter in 2019. With the release of Valorant, Hiko decided to officially retire and put CS:GO behind his back.

Hiko in Valorant

Hiko joined competitive Valorant on June 4 when he got signed as the first member of the 100 Thieves Valorant roster. Needless to say, Hiko was the most experienced member of the team, and 100 Thieves decided to build their future Valorant team around him. With plenty of knowledge coming from his years in CS:GO, Hiko was set to captain the new squad.

Even before his time in Valorant, Hiko was known to be a clutch master. His title remained just as true in Riot's tactical shooter.

Hiko and 100 Thieves

As we've mentioned, Hiko skipped the part where he had to join a stack and get signed by an organization. This didn't make things easier, though. 100 Thieves finalized their roster by hiring four players at once - Keane "Valliate" Alonso, Diondre "YaBoiDre" Bond, Zachary "Venerated" Roach, and Alfred "Pride" Choi. All four were part of the same orgless team called Highground. While it all seemed great, this roster didn't live up to expectations.

All players except Hiko were released from their contracts, and 100 Thieves started gathering a new squad. This time, the organization started hiring some players with solid CS:GO backgrounds like Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella.

We recruited Nitr0. As of now, the team is just Nitr0 and I. And 100 Thieves decided to rebuild the roster around me and NitrO. So if you don’t know who NitrO is, he is my old teammate from Liquid. One of my very long friends, I have always liked Nitr0. – Hiko commented.

It wasn't long before the roster was complete, and 100 Thieves showed they had potential. Hiko and his team took first place in First Strike North America, second place at VCT 2021: North America Stage 1 Challengers 3, and first place at VCT 2021: North America Stage 2 Challengers 1. We're looking forward to seeing them in Stage 3 of the VCT!

Why is Hiko the Valorant Player of the Month?

It's no secret that the 100 Thieves Valorant roster was built around Hiko, and it turned out to be a good roster. Many of the players were former teammates in CS:GO, and it's only a matter of time before we get to see results. Sentinels may have won the Stage 2 Masters Reykjavik, but 100 Thieves are coming for them. Hiko is also one of the oldest players in the Valorant competitive scene at 31 years of age. That doesn't stop him, though, as he still displays some insane flicks. On top of all that, Hiko is one of the most frequent Valorant streamers, providing quality content to all fans of the game. Be sure to check him out on Twitch.
