Picking a player of the month was more challenging than ever before. This whole VCT Challengers seasons was full of incredible players. However, there is one young man who stole our hearts, and he is clearly going to be exceptional in the future of competitive Valorant.
FunPlus Phoenix has always been a pretty unique (and underrated) EMEA team. It seems to be made up of veterans of the eSports scene, such as ANGE1, but it is also full of young players that are just starting their adventure with competitive gaming. And it just so happens that one of them is our current Player of the Month!

Zyppan in Valorant
Pontus “Zyppan” Eek is a Swedish 19-year-old player who has already had a professional career in Fortnite, representing Epsilon eSports, an organization that has almost legendary status (big names such as Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom have also played there at some point). However, when Valorant came out, he totally fell in love with it. Just like Aleksander "zeek" Zygmunt, Zyppan also started participating in tournaments almost right away, and decided to drop his successful Fortnite career to give Valorant a shot.
He started his Valorant career representing Ninjas in Pyjamas (huh, that's a start), but then played in a small Swedish mix for some time with small successes. Still, everyone who watched his games back then knew that it was just a matter of time for him to start crushing it in VCT circuit tournaments. And so it happened! Today, he represents FunPlus Phoenix, one of the three EMEA teams that earned a slot at the upcoming VCT Masters tournament, one of the year's three most important Valorant eSports events.
Why Is Zyppan Our Current Player of the Month?
It was obvious that our Player of the Month would be the person we personally consider the MVP of the VCT Challengers tournament. And honestly, upon further reflection, there's just no better pick than Zyppan. Not only did he significantly help his team win the entire tournament, but there is another factor that we greatly appreciate. Because of the current situation in Ukraine, he had to play with stand-in players, which could be challenging, but still, he was able to adapt his playstyle perfectly.
His total KDA throughout the tournament was 1.6 playing three different agents, which is insane. And during the Grand Final games against G2 Esports, he was the best performing player in the entire match, collecting 79 frags. We recommend watching his matches on Icebox and Breeze, where he presented an ideal KAY/O gameplay.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to see him in Reykjavik because the rest of his teammates can't travel to the venue. That's another reason why we chose him as our Player of the Month – to appreciate what he's done and how much excitement he's given us through these last weeks, even though he can't take full advantage of it himself.
