Riot’s tactical shooter Valorant is about to get interesting as teams are making their way to the First Strike regional finals. With the NSG tournament behind us, it’s now time for the UMG tournament, which is starting today.
The UMG tournament is the next in line qualifier for the NA First Strike regional finals. Before that, we saw the Nerd Street Gamers tournament where four teams already qualified – Team Envy, 100 Thieves, Renegades, Sentinels. Four of the teams who didn’t make it to the final four in the NSG but came right after received a direct invitation to the UMG event. The latter is set to kick off today and gathers some of the best teams from the NA region. Here’s the full list of 16 participants:
- T1
- TSM
- Complexity Gaming
- Cloud9 Blue
- Moon Raccoons
- Immortals
- Andbox
- Equinox Esports
- Dignitas
- Spacestation Gaming
- Gen.G Esports
- Pittsburgh Knights
- FaZe Clan
- Luminosity Gaming
- Team Serenity
- NRG
As you can see, all the big organizations in North America are present. So, who’ll take it? TSM were among the favorites in the previous tournament but they ended up losing to 100 Thieves. Perhaps this time they’ll live up to expectations. After all, they’re the NA team with the most Valorant trophies.
In terms of format, the UMG tournament follows the NSG that we’ve already seen. The 16 teams will be split into four groups of four. Only two of each group will make it to the playoffs where a single loss will mean elimination. A single team will take the champion's title and only four will earn a spot in the regional finals. A live stream will be available on the official UMG Twitch channel as well as the Valorant Esports NA channel. The NA Regional Finals are scheduled for December 3 – 6.Who are your favorites for the event? Tell us on our Facebook page!
