In this daily series, EarlyGame ranks all Valorant agents from worst to best. Today it's time for #1 - Sage.

The award for ‘Best Agent in Valorant’ goes to: Sage. No, she’s not flashiest and playing support is not always the coolest role to play, but Sage is so incredibly important to every single team composition that she easily secured the #1 spot in our ranking.

In tactical shooters, the time to kill is low - a couple of shots usually do the trick. In addition to that, there are no natural revives and only 5 people per side in rounds that last well under two minutes. Thus, outnumbering the opponent and controlling the pace of the match are extremely crucial factors in securing the win. With all that in play, a healer like Sage is invaluable. Underline it, print it and sing it to the world: Sage simply is invaluable.

Let’s start with the elephant in the room: Her ultimate Resurrection. Sage can resurrect the fallen to full health. This is big time. Regaining one out of just five troopers in a tactical shooter can easily swing the battle in your favor. Her ultimate alone makes Sage valuable, but she is far from a one trick pony. With her Heal Orb she can heal damaged teammates to maybe avoid even needing her ultimate in the first place. She can heal from solid range, without putting herself in danger and can even heal herself. The only thing better than healing is avoiding damage altogether. Luckily, Sage has got some tools for that: Her Barrier Orb builds an ice wall that can be used to boost teammates to advantageous angles or wall off entire areas. Sage also has her Slow Orb, which she can throw to create an ice field that can cause a whole enemy squad to waste time or reveal their location and be slowed. Sage can completely alter the flow and pace of a battle, while also healing and resurrecting those that fall victim to it. She almost sounds too good to be true, but luckily for that has her, she very much is.

Sage is so useful to any squad that there should be no team composition out there that does not include her. An easy pick for the title of best agent in Valorant. Especially in higher ranks and competitive play, this game is about so much more than securing kills and when it comes to utility and helping her team stay alive, Sage is just a beast and the cornerstone to any solid team.
