In this daily series, EarlyGame ranks all Valorant agents from worst to best. Today it's #8 - Viper.
Oh, Viper. So cool, so slick, so poisonous. How can you not like her? I mean she’s even got her own theme song:
Viper is poison, and she is unique in the way she uses her abilities:
She has poison fuel that's used up as she uses her abilities and regenerates over time. This allows her to use her abilities more often than any other agent. Amongst those abilities is an area-slow, Snakebite, that damages and slows the enemy.
Her ‘smoke-grenade’ Poison Gas blocks vision and also deals damage and she has a wall - Toxic Screen - that, once set, can be activated whenever she has fuel.
Her ultimate is the real star and it can control entire bomb sites by covering them in poison gas - Viper’s Pit. Any enemy that enters her poison cloud has decay damage, reduced vision and is outlined for Viper to see clearly.
The issue with Viper is that her abilities require quite smart usage: When do I activate my wall? When do I slow and where do I throw my smoke? On top of that, her ultimate won’t do you much good, if you can’t confidently pick off enemies that are revealed to you in one or two shots. She’s not for everyone, as she can be a little… toxic. Get it? Get it?
