Engineers are huge in Battlefield; this is the shooter defined by its vehicles. The engineer Specialists available on launch are, unfortunately, not as vehicle-focused as we were hoping, but they're still pretty dope. Here's our ranking from worst to best.

If none of these Specialists look cool to you:

Who Are The Best Engineer Specialists In Battlefield 2042?

Irish is a legend in Battlefield lore. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, before going on to become a marine.

His ability is quite situational but it isn't terrible. Basically, he deploys a cover wall that destroys incoming grenades. it can be quite good when you're fighting in over one specific area or trying to hold a choke point, but you'll often go for long periods without using it. His passive is a little better, allowing him to resupply armor from dead enemies, but again it isn't the best in the game. Hence, he's the worst engineer Specialist.

1. Pyotr "Boris" Guskovsky

  • Place of Birth: Russia
  • Class: Engineer
  • Specialist: SG-36 Sentry System
  • Trait: Sentry Operator

Boris is the least described character in the lore, all we know is that he's Russian-born and a techy. Maybe we'll get more lore about Boris, who knows?

He's the best engineer Specialist, and one of the better Specialists in BF2042 full stop because his sentry can help you on every spawn. Just pop it down as soon as you encounter combat or get into a power position, and let it start tagging people up for you and the team. Its destructive power isn't very good and you shouldn't expect to make kills with it, but it provides a lot of information really easily while you get on with the task of mowing people down. Also, he just sounds less annoying than most of the other Specialists.
