The Marksman Rifles are basically the light snipers, which have the potential to one-hit-kill with head-shots, but will usually hitmarker anywhere else on the body. Here's our ranking of all the MMRs in MW2.
Modern Warfare 2 has been unveiled to the world, and as players begin frantically unlocking every weapon they can (while trying to understand the new Gunsmith), many have begun asking us about the best weapons in the game. Well, if you want, we have a complete tier-ranking of every weapon in MW2. But in this article, we're going to go in-depth on the Marksman Rifles, and rank them all from worst-to-best.
The Marksman Rifles have returned in MW2 as a category of weapon. Marksman Rifles are basically the "light snipers", which can only one-shot to the neck or head, but have more than enough range for every map (including Ground War). They'll give you better mobility than the heavy snipers as well, although not by much. Anyway, enough throat-clearing, here are the best Marksman Rifles in MW2.
Note: The following are the best MMRs for Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer. Here you can find the best MMRs for Warzone 2.0.
The Best Marksman Rifles In Modern Warfare 2
7. Lockwood MK2
The MK2 is back! ...and it's still not great. The problem with the MK2 is that you need to rechamber a round after each shot, and so your effective TTK (assuming you land every shot to the center of mass) is just too poor to keep up with a vast majority of other weapons.
But hey, it's still badass. And we're sure a ton of Redditors will unlock it to make compilation videos about their "Cowboy Class".
6. LM-S
Now, this is pretty much just a semi-auto sniper, and the problem is that the recoil makes follow-up shots as hard as they were with the old Dragunov. I guess you could use it as a strangely close-range build? But either way this won't be a strong weapon.
We love that the PSG1 made it into the game, but we're praying that Call of Duty one day return to the practice of using the actual names for these weapons.
5. EBR-14
This is closer to a semi-auto AR than a sniper, but it's not fast enough to be very effective in that role. It's very similar to the EBR from MW2019 in that regard.
It looks very cool though, and it's surely going to have some dope skins.
4. TAQ-M
The TAQ-M is also closer to a semi-auto AR than a sniper, and will always require follow-up shots, but luckily it's much faster and more capable than the EBR-14. This weapon also has all the access to all the attachments on the SCAR platform, which is a great benefit.
Sadly, it can't beat the two best weapons in this list because they're borderline broken as easy-to-use, one-shot weapons.
3. Tempus Torrent
The Tempus Torrent was added in Season 2 Reloaded, and it's quite good in multiplayer. It's quite similar to the old FAL from MW2019, but slower and with harsher recoil.
This weapon has access to some fantastic attachments, which is a nice bonus.
2. SA-B 50
This is like the old Kar98k, a very fast to ADS bolt-action that can one-shot people to the chest. These weapons are always going to be fairly broken in CoD multiplayer, because they're so hard to counter. And in this game snipers have great aim assist and almost no flinch, which makes the problem worse.
It's not in the number 1 spot because it produces a few too many hitmarkers compared to the 208.
1. SP-R 208
Much like the SA-B 50, this is basically the Kar98k; a superfast sniper that can one-shot to the upper chest. It was actually in Modern Warfare 2019, but it was probably not quite as strong in that game.
What makes this even better than the SA-B is that it can one-shot more consistently, and it can be used more easily with just the ironsights.
