The 556 Icarus is very mobile for an LMG, and it has great handling speeds. This makes it very good at short and mid-range, which we rarely see in an LMG. You can find the best loadout for the 556 Icarus below.
The 556 Icarus is a much faster LMG than we normally see. It also has great handling speeds, which makes it uniquely capable at short range. But, we still think you should use it more as a mid-range weapon than a close-range weapon, simply because the SMGs have ludicrously short TTKs up-close right now.
Still, even as a mid-range option the 556 feels great, and it's more than viable. You can find the best attachment setup for the 556 Icarus below.
- While the 556 Icarus isn't part of the "hard-meta", it's still completely viable. If you're only looking for the best of the best, though, then here are the best weapons in Warzone 2.
Warzone 2.0: The Best Attachment Setup For The 556 Icarus
Slot | Attachment | Unlock Requirements | Attachment Tuning |
Muzzle | Harbringer D20 | STB 556 to Level 18 | Recoil Smoothness Max (+1.40 oz) / Bullet Velocity Max (-1.00 in) |
Optic | Slimline Pro | Lachmann-762 to Level 13 → Lachmann-556 to Level 12 → Lachmann Sub to Level 11 | Default |
Stock | Corio Precio Factory | M4 Level 7 | Default |
Rear Grip | Sakin ZX Grip | M4 to Level 19 → 556 Icarus to Level 14 | Default |
Underbarrel | VX Pineapple | STB 556 to Level 20 → HCR 56 to Level 10 | Hip Walking Speed (-0.40 oz) / Aim Down Sight Speed (-0.30 in) |
As much as we would love to really lean-into the faster characteristics of the Icarus, if we don't trade some of the mobility for better recoil control, then we'll be left with a very situational weapon. Therefore, we've taken all the attachments that can give us extra recoil control, and because of this we can be effective with the Icarus out to about 35 / 40 m.
We don't love the iron sights on the Icarus, so we took the Slimline Pro. But, if you like the default irons, swap the Slimline out for a laser.
- The fastest way to level-up and unlock all these attachments is by playing Modern Warfare 2.
The Best Warzone 2 Loadout For The 556 Icarus: Secondary, Perks & Equipment
Secondary: P890
We might see this weapon getting a nerf soon, but until then the P890 akimbo pictured above is the meta secondary choice. It just shreds through people so quickly, it feels like you're playing multiplayer.
If you're not into akimbo weapons, or you don't trust your trigger finger, then go with an X13. The X13 with a 50-round mag is basically a pocket SMG.
- Here's a complete overview of the P890, including tunings.
Perks (Base, Bonus & Ultimate)
Yep, we have to pick Perk Packages these days. It's a shame, but the Specter Package is pretty solid:
Perk Package | Specter Package |
Base Perk | Double Time / Tracker |
Bonus Perk | Spotter |
Ultimate Perk | Ghost |
We get Ghost in the Ultimate slot which is fantastic at countering late-game UAVs, and we get Double Time and Tracker, which are both really solid for Warzone. Of course, Spotter isn't amazing, but it's not entirely useless.
Equipment (Lethal & Tactical)
There are tons of good equipment options to pick from this year, but we're leaning towards Flashbangs and Semtex:
Lethal | Semtex |
Tactical | Flash Grenade |
Why Flash grenades and not Stuns? Simply because they seem broken this year and last for a very long time, whereas Stuns feel heavily nerfed. And Semtex is our favorite lethal option right now because it's easy to use and effective against both vehicles and infantry.
And if you try the 556 Icarus, and it's just not for you, here's a complete tier list of the weapons in Warzone 2.
Let's hope we get voting like this for CDL matches...
