More Warzone 2 leaks have revealed further gameplay details. We're getting interrogations and strongholds. Is this a step too far? Or will it keep Warzone interesting?
Even more Warzone 2 leaks are starting to slip through the cracks. From everything we're hearing, it sounds like the devs are trying to slow the game down, introduce more long-term planning within matches, and make the looting more complex. But just recently, we heard about a couple of new additions that we never expected to see in CoD's battle royale: interrogations and strongholds.
Both of these changes will definitely force players to plan more and focus on their positioning, but will they force us to camp? Here's what we know so far about interrogations and strongholds.
[Update, July 15, 2022]
The infamous Call of Duty leaker @real1tyuk_ leaked some code string regarding the strongholds and interrogations that will be in Warzone 2. These codes give us a first peak at the missions or tasks that will be coming with these two new features. For copyright reasons, we cannot show you the strings, but we can tell you what the said.
Interrogations:
- "SPLASHES/INTERROGATION": Interrogation!
- "SPLASHES/INTERROGATION_SQUAD-COMPROMISED": Compromised
- "SPLASHES/BR-ENEMY_INTERROGATED": Interrogation Complete
- "SPLASHES/BR-TEAMMATE_INTERROGATED": Squad Exposed
- "SPLASHES/INTERROGATION_DESC": You interrogated a downed enemy.
This code basically confirms previous leaks regarding this interrogation feature, and it will behave very similar to the one in Rainbow Six Siege. It's interesting to note that you get told about the fact that one of your teammates has been interrogated. That gives you a bit of a warning, so you can prepare for an upcoming push.
Strongholds
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_CAPTURED": null
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_CAPTURED_DESC": Squad has Control
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_UNLOCKED": null
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_UNLOCKED_NORMAL_DESC": Complete all 3 Operations
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_OPERATION_FAILED": null
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_UNLOCKED_NORMAL_DESC": Control was lost
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_PERSON_OF_INTEREST": Person of Interest
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_PERSON_OF_INTEREST_DESC": Defeat the Boss
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_OPERATION_ACTIVATED": Operation Activated
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_OPERATIONS_COMPLETE": Operation Complete
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_BOMB_DISPOSAL": Bomb Disposal
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_BOMB_DISPOSAL_DESC": Find and disable 3 active C4 explosives
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_SEARCH_AND_DESTROY": Search and Destroy
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_SEARCH_AND_DESTROY_DESC": Destroy all the terminals defended by enemy AI before the data is fully uploaded.
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_UNLOCKED_BLACKSITE_DESC": Complete all 4 Operations
- "SPLASHES/STRONGHOLD_VIEW_TACMAP": View on TacMap
Previous leaks were obviously also right about the strongholds. There seems to be different kind of strongholds, and some tasks will vary depending on the difficulty. Real1tyuk_ also revealed some different pictures of these strongholds, and it looks like there will be four different ones, which is also confirmed by the 'Complete all 4 Operations' code.
The interrogation feature is definitely something that could come to Warzone 2, but the strongholds sound more like the DMZ mode, and don't really fit into Warzone. I mean, we had similar missions in Verdansk as Easter Eggs, but I don't know how I feel about them becoming a permanent thing in Warzone, especially if the rumors about the loadouts are true that state, that you can only access your loadout by completing one of these tasks. But I guess we just have to wait and see.

Interrogations & Strongholds
As known insider Tom Henderson first reported for Exputer, Warzone 2 will be introducing interrogations and strongholds into Warzone 2. He describes the interrogation system as working in the same way Caveira does in Rainbow Six: Siege,
The interrogation feature is very similar to the interrogate feature in Rainbow Six Siege, where players can interrogate downed enemies to reveal their teammates location.
Sure, they might be "stealing" something from Siege, but it sounds like an interesting mechanic that will reward higher-skilled plays in Warzone.
Whereas strongholds sound rather unique:
Strongholds are located across the entire map and will give players something additional to do instead of just buying your Loadout at a buy station. There are around 25-30 of them spread out across the entire map (so probably just as many as the usual buy stations we’ve been accustomed to). There are several different tiers of Strongholds too, with three large strongholds and around 20-25 smaller strongholds scattered around the map. Strongholds are typically guarded by AI and contain objectives that you need to complete in order to gain access to your loadout.
This sounds like a sure-fire way to promote camping in Warzone, but it's understandable that the devs want to cater to all playstyles.
Do you like these changes? We're undecided, but we'll surely find out more soon, with so much being leaked right now. Until then, you can check out everything we knowabout Warzone 2 here.
