You are trying to figure out the best guns in Warzone? You've come to the right place. We will rank the currently best weapons in Warzone for you.
Call of Duty: Warzone is one of the most popular and biggest Battle Royale games in the world. It also has one of the biggest collection of guns. When Warzone first launched, it started out with all the weapons from Modern Warfare (2019). Soon after Black Ops Cold War was released, and the new CoD was integrated into Warzone as well, another huge wave of guns was brought into the game. Then, after Vanguard was released in November 2021, Vanguard weapons came into play in early December 2021.
With over 180 weapons and regular new additions with each new season, as well as constant balance changes, it is pretty hard to stay up to date with the current meta. Guns like the Grau or Bruen were once the most overpowered weapons and then suddenly vanished. So, what are the best guns in Warzone right now?
First of all, you should know that there are four main categories that meta weapons usually come from: Assault Rifles, SMGs, Sniper Rifles, and LMGs in rare cases there is also a DMRin the mix. So in this article, we will show you the current best two Warzone guns in each of those categories and will update them as soon as the meta changes. Since Vanguard is the latest stand alone CoD, we will always show at least one Vanguard weapon per category.
The Best Guns In Warzone
Best Warzone Guns: ARs
Assault Rifles are the most versatile guns for pretty much every shooter. They perform good on almost every range and are fairly easy to control. So it's no surprise at all that a lot of the best Warzone loadouts include an AR as the primary weapon or even as a sniper support. While Modern Warfare weapons like the Grau and AMAX ruled Warzone for a long time, BOCW and Vanguard guns quickly took over. But thanks to a big balance patch in Vanguard Season 4: Reloaded, many old MW weapons are returning to the meta. Take a look at our assault rifle ranking, where we list the best assault rifles in Warzone.
KG M40 (VG)
After the NZ-41 was nerfed again, we think the KG M40 is the new long-range AR meta. The weapon has hardly any recoil, an enormous range and precision and is really easy to play. Yes, it unfortunately doesn't have the best TTK, but for a long-range assault rifle, the KG M40 is really strong. Just trust us and level up the KG M40 if you haven't already. Here is our best KG M40 Warzone setup and loadout.
CR-56 AMAX (MW)
Yes, you read correctly, the AMAX is back in the meta! I've been waiting for this for a long time, I love the AMAX. Enormous range and blatant damage with a still quite controllable recoil. After the last two years when you could almost only play BOCW or Vanguard weapons, Season 4: Reloaded brings backsome of the older MW guns into the game. Here is our best CR-56 AMAX setup and loadout.
Best Warzone Guns: SMGs
SMGs in Warzone are obviously meant to dominate the close range combat. They are the go-to weapons for CQC, are extremely agile, and in general boast a high rate of fire. SMGs are mainly used as a secondary weapon in AR loadouts, but can, in some cases, also be a good sniper support – only if they have the range, though. If you are interested in Warzone's SMGs in general, check out our tier ranking of the best SMGs in Warzone.
Type 100 (VG)
TTK-wise the Type 100 has been and still is the top dog. Nothing competes with the Type 100 when you only look at purely TTK. Unfortunately, the rather small magazine and the difficult-to-control recoil make it a gun that isn't as easy to use for beginners. However, it still is a great option for solos, basically a guaranteed free kill if anyone steps too close and therefore our number 1. Check out the meta Type 100 setup.
Marco 5 (VG)
The Marco 5 is the latest addition to the SMG class and is absolutely insane. With the right setup, the Marco is a movement-beast and enables you to run faster than with stims or anything else in the game. And if you use 'Momentum' on this gun and get a kill, you'll be breaking cameras like crazy. This gun is just bonkers, but was recently nerfed, so we had to move it down a bit. Here's the best Marco 5 speed build.
Best Warzone Guns: Sniper Rifles
Snipers have long been the meta in Warzone. Skilled players with good aim will pick a sniper rifle over anything. Why? Simple, there is no other weapon category that can down players with a single shot. Most sniper rifles could down a full HP player with one upper torso hit, and all of them were able to do so with a headshot. However, things have changed with the huge Sniper nerfs of Vanguard Season 3. We also made a tier ranking of the best sniper rifles in Warzone for you.
ZRG 20mm (BOCW)
After the nerf of the Kar and Swiss the big, chunky sniper rifles are back at the top. The ZRG being one of the biggest snipers in the game is the current number one with ridiculous damage and bullet velocity. Yes, it's slow and doesn't have a big magazine, but until we get new balance changes, you should definitely go for the ZRG. Here is our best Warzone ZRG 20mm loadout.
3-Line Rifle (VG)
Yes, since the big sniper nerf with Vanguard Season 3, the Kar98k and the Swiss are no longer in the sniper meta. Thanks to the nerf, many snipers can no longer down with just one headshot, so the slower, heavier snipers finally get a chance to shine. The 3-Line Rifle has tremendous damage and, most importantly, crazy bullet velocity, making it the best vanguard sniper in Warzone right now. Here is a 3-Line Rifle setup guide.
Best Warzone Guns: LMGs
LMGs are a special weapon class, sometimes working really well and being completely broken, and sometimes not working at all. Most of the time LMGs are just too slow and feel sluggish, which makes it hard to keep up with ARs, but then again there were some LMGs that dominated the meta for quite some time – just think of the Bruen or more recently the Bren. To always keep you up to date, we have compiled a list of the currently best LMGs in Warzone.
UGM-8 (VG)
The UGM-8 is one of those guns that we could tell would be a problem within hours of its release. It is still pretty new, so people are busy levelling it and the devs will probably have a close eye on it, but it is an absolute beast right now. The UGM-8 combines a controllable recoil pattern with fantastic damage over range and decent mobility for an LMG. And that's pretty much a blueprint for making broken LMGs. Here's the current meta attachment setup for UGM-8.
Bruen Mk9 (MW)
You probably remember the Bruen, right? This gun came into play with Modern Warfare Season 3 and was completely broken at the time. After some nerfs, it isn't that op anymore, but it still is a very good LMG. With the Bruen you basically get a slightly beefier AR. Use the 60 rounds mag to get almost the mobility of an AR but still keep the damage and range of a LMG. Here is the best Bruen Mk9 setup and loadout.
Best Warzone Guns: DMRs
We are putting DMRs/Marksman Rifles and Tactical Rifles into one category, since it basically is the same weapon class. These weapons are set somewhere between the assault rifles and the sniper rifles – they are single shot or burst fire guns that usually can't down a player with only one shot. They are more accurate and have higher damage than assault rifles, but don't have the range or one-shot potential of a sniper rifle. While in most cases an AR or sniper will do better, DMRs can still shine in the right hands. Here is our complete Warzone DMR tier list.
Kar98k (MW)
The Kar98k is obviously known to most of you as the best quick-scope sniper in Warzone. It was the absolute sniper meta for over 2 years. But it actually is not a sniper at all, it is classified as a Marksman Rifle both in Modern Warfare and in Warzone – in contrast to the Vanguard Kar, which is considered a sniper. After the huge nerf to sniper rifles like the Kar and Swiss, you can't really use it as a sniper anymore, because the Kar lost its one shot potential, but if you consider it a DMR it is probably the best one available. Here is our best Kar98k loadout.
G-43 (VG)
The G-43 is a DMR that came into play with Vanguard and stands out for one special feature – it can be played fully automatic. It also has excellent range, accuracy and damage, and can take out players incredibly quickly. Like any DMR or tactical rifle, it's best used at medium to long ranges, and you should always go for headshots, of course. If you want to try something different and DMRs don't scare you off, you should give the G-43 a try. With our G-43 setup and loadout you will have a lot of fun.
