The Kastov 762 is a 3-shot to anywhere on the body, making it the most forgiving AR to use. Here's the best attachment setup for the Kastov 762, and a full loadout to use it with.
You can't go wrong with an assault rifle in MW2 (well, except for the M16 or the Kastov 545). And as MW2 is a slower CoD, ARs are a lot stronger than SMGs this year. One of the best ARs you can pick is the Kastov 762, and we highly recommend it to players of all skill-levels.
Because it's a 3-shot to anywhere on the body, you don't need good aim to feel powerful with this thing. In fact, even the base Kastov 762 has the potential to be one of the best assault rifles. But, it is improved by adding a few attachments and tuning them correctly. You can find our favorite Kastov 762 setup below.

The Best Kastov 762 Attachments
Slot | Attachment | How To Unlock | Tuning |
Muzzle | Lockshot KT85 | Kastov 762 to Level 16 → RPK to Level 9 | Aim-Down-Sight (-0.70oz) / Gun Kick Control (+0.30in) |
Stock | KSTV-RPK Factory | Kastov 762 to Level 6 | Aim-Down-Sight (-4.00oz) / Aiming Idle Stability (+2.40in) |
Optic | Cronen Mini Pro | Expedite 12 to Level 7 | Default |
Underbarrel | Merc Foregrip | TAQ-56 to Level 11 → TAQ-V to Level 6 | Hip Walking Speed (-0.34oz) / Aim-Down-Sight (-0.40in) |
Rear Grip | True-TAC Grip | Kastov 762 to Level 10 → Kastov 545 to Level 13 → Kastov-74u to Level 15 → Vaznev-9K to Level 10 | Default |
The Kastov has great damage and range, so we don't need a fancy barrel or suppressor to increase that range. Instead, we can mainly focus on getting as much recoil control as possible without hurting our sprint-out time or ADS too dramatically. This combination of attachments and tuning is our current favorite, but if you think we're sleeping on a great attachment please let us know in the comments. Oh, and you could drop the optic for something else, but we hate the default Kastov ironsights, so a red-dot was a must.
Note: We don't use overkill in this loadout and therefore need a good pistol as a secondary weapon. The X12 and P890 are excellent if you have a good trigger finger, but if not then we advise the X13 (with 33 Round Mags).
The Best Kastov 762 Loadout: Perks & Equipment
Perks (Base, Bonus & Ultimate)
Here are the perks we use in a typical AR class for pubs:
Base Perk | Battle Hardened / Bomb Squad |
Bonus Perk | Hardline |
Ultimate Perk | Ghost |
We're back to the typical meta perks here. Battle Hardened and Bomb Squad give us a handy passive buff against all types of grenades, while Hardline should pretty much guarantee a UAV is always active. And because of the constant UAV spam in MW2, we'll take Ghost to stay off the radar (but please be aware Ghost stops working for 3 seconds whenever you fire an unsuppressed weapon).
Here is a complete list of all perks in Modern Warfare 2, so you can peruse the other options.
Equipment (Lethal, Tactical & Field Upgrade)
Here you can see the equipment of our choice:
Primary | Semtex |
Tactical | Flash Grenades |
Field Upgrade | Trophy System |
For a primary grenade we chose Semtex, which is easy to use and a good choice in almost every situation. In the tactical slot we've opted for flash grenades, which are broken in this game (hence they've already been GA'd in the CDL). And then for a Field Upgrade we've taken the ever-useful Trophy System because we're mainly playing Hardpoint, but for less objective-focused modes Dead Silence is always solid.
That's all for the Kastov 762. If you don't always want to play the M4, the Kastov 762 is a good alternative. Try it out.
