This is more of a shoutout to the Warzone meta, because in BOCW, the DMR-14 was never broken. But in Warzone, it produced the most one-sided meta we've ever had in the first few days of 2021. The DMR wasn't just "too strong" in the ordinary ways, it was particularly annoying because it felt impossible to counter without your own DMR. Melee weapons should never, ever beat actual guns in CoD. Let me say that again in case any Raven devs are reading: melee weapons should never be stronger than actual guns in CoD. The Vector is a beloved classic from Infinity Ward CoDs, but the version of the Vector we got in Ghosts was stupid. If you've forgotten, this "SMG" was outgunning ARs at 30 m. Perhaps it speaks to the more general problem of Ghost's incredibly low TTK, but whatever the cause, the Vector was an issue. In fact, it got so bad, we ended up seeing 4 Vectors being run by a single team at certain points during the comp season. | © Activision Blizzard
The Riot Shield has been a part of many different CoDs in the past and is suuuuper annoying. Not because people are using it as an actual shield to pair with a pistol, but because everyone is using it to become a turtle. Players equip the Riot Shield as a secondary, wearing it on their back and thus being immune to being shot from behind. Especially on small, chaotic maps like Shipment, players using fast SMGs or a shotgun paired with the Riot Shield on the back are extremely frustrating to play against. | © Activision Blizzard

We look back nostalgically at MW2 now, but there's actually a ton of things in that game that, if released now, would be met with "this is the worst thing to happen to CoD ever" style tweets.
