Warzone 2.0 is live and replaced Warzone, but what actually happens to the original Warzone? Here you can find all information about Warzone Caldera.
Warzone 2.0 launched the Call of Duty Battle Royale into a new generation and brought a bunch of exciting new features. But what will actually happen to the original Warzone from 2020? Will the servers simply be shut down and that's it?
No, of course not! But some things will change, for example the name, because from now on Warzone will be known as Warzone Caldera.
Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera Relaunch
Up until the launch of Warzone 2.0 on November 16, players were able to continue playing Warzone as normal. However, for the launch of Warzone 2.0, the lights went out temporarily. The developers wanted to concentrate on the launch of the new Warzone 2.0 and guarantee a bug-free start.
Since November 28th, the original CoD Battle Royale is available again as a separate game under the name Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera. You can find it in the Battle.net launcher or on your console under Modern Warfare (2019) and only need to have the Warzone and Spec-Ops data packs installed. After that, you can launch Warzone Caldera just like before.
What Changed In Warzone Caldera
The biggest change is of course that the two maps Rebirth Island and Fortune's Keep are no longer available. Warzone Caldera exclusively offers the classic Battle Royale gameplay on the large map Caldera. So far, only BR Solos and BR Quads are available in the menu, so you won't be able to play Duos or Trios on Caldera for the time being.
As mentioned above, Warzone Caldera is not linked to Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare 2. Cosmetics such as weapon blueprints or operator skins, as well as Battle Pass progress will not transfer to Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare 2. XP tokens are also not transferable. However, CoD Points are valid across games, so they should show up for you in Warzone 2.0 by now.
So basically, Warzone Caldera offers a very stripped down version of the good old Warzone experience. Of course, it's a bit frustrating that we can't take our purchased cosmetics with us, but hey, Warzone 2.0 is a new game and at least the new BR is again free to play for everyone and even the new DMZ mode is included.
