If you're looking for the best Assault Rifle in Warzone 2, you've come to the right place. Assault rifles are the most popular weapons in Warzone. But there's a ton of ARs – to help you choose the right weapon, we've ranked all the assault rifles in Warzone 2 for you.
Warzone 2 is going to take some getting used to, especially the intricate new Gunsmith. But before you get too deep into tuning this and adjusting that, why don't we start with the very basics: which is the best AR in Warzone 2?
You will often only get the chance to pick up just one custom gun in Warzone 2, and there's over 50 different weapons to level. So let's start by sorting out which assault rifles are decent and worth using, and then you can begin to focus your levelling efforts.
- If you've got the time to really get to grips with the entire Warzone 2 meta, then we have a tier-ranking of the best guns in Warzone 2 here.
Complete Ranking Of Every Assault Rifle In Warzone 2
Overview:
12. M16
The M16 was buffed recently, but there's honestly just very little you can do to make this weapon viable. The upward vertical recoil pattern makes each burst fairly inefficient, and the burst-mechanism itself prevents you from having a good TTK, even if you're landing every shot within the burst.
Here is our best M16 loadout. But be warned, it's hard to use a burst-fire weapon in a full-auto world.
11. Kastov 762
How the mighty have fallen. This was once an amazing AR, but after nerfs to both damage and recoil, there's almost no reason left why you should still use the 762. Plus, it's capped at 40-round mages.
Here are the best attachments for the Kastov 762.
10. M13B
The M13B was Warzone 2's first post-launch AR, and it paid homage to MW2019's M13; low-recoil but poor damage. This makes it a good weapon for long range and for low-skilled players, but it's hard to imagine it ever becoming the ture meta, especially for higher-skilled players. It's damage is just too low.
Here's the current meta loadout for the M13B.
9. ISO Hemlock
The ISO Hemlock was introduced in Season 2, and it was massively popular right from launch. And so, predictably, the devs had to keep nerfing its damage, and now it sits anear the bottom of the pile.
Here is our best ISO Hemlock loadout.
8. TAQ-56
The TAQ-56 was once the closest thing we had to a truly "do-it-all" assault rifle. But then its damage was repeatedly nerfed and so it simply can't keep up in terms of TTK. Great recoil control though.
Here's our favorite TAQ-56 build.
7. Tempus Razorback
The Tempus Razorback has a high rate-of-fire, good damage, and great handling speeds. But sadly, it sits awkwardly between being good at long-range and being good at short-range. A bit of a "jack of all trades, master of none" situation.
We've got a complete Tempus Razorback loadout for you.
6. Kastov-74u
The Kastov-74u is a really fun little short-range AR and a great support weapon. And while the sprint-out isn't as impressive as the STB's, the 74u has slightly better damage numbers.
Here is our best Kastov 74u loadout.
5. STB-556
The STB has the best sprint-out times in the AR class, and one of the best ADS times, making it an excellent close-range option. However, it's capped at 45 rounds max, and it really struggles when you're trying to chall anything out past 30 m, so it's not all sunshine and rainbows, but definitely still a great gun.
If you're interested in building one of these, we've got a complete guide to the current meta STB 556 loadout for Warzone here.
4. Kastov 545
The Kastov 545 was pointless for a long time. It was basically just a weaker version of the Kastov 762 for a long time. However, it also has a lot less recoil and got buffed recently. So as of now, the Kastov 545 is much better than the 762, in fact.
Here is our best Kastov 545 loadout.
3. Lachmann-556
Although the Lachman-556 is slow, it can be fantastic at long-range because it has some of the lowest recoil. This makes it ideal for your long-range AR option, although the Cronen is just better at this role right now.
We've got a complete Lachmann 556 loadout guide for you here.
2. M4
Wild to see the M4 back here, right? It's up here because it's the choice for Resurgence players, thanks to recent buffs that made it excellent for mid-range engagements.
Here is our best M4 loadout.
1. Chimera
Some of you might remember the Chimera as the Honey Badger from Ghosts. This weapon has a good balance to be your sniper support-style flex weapon. It has the handling, mobility, and close-range TTK of an SMG, with the increased range potential of an AR. We can very highly recommend this weapon.
Here is our best Chimera loadout.
It just sounds so damn sexy.
Which Assault Rifle Is Best For Short-Range?
We think the Chimera is the best short-range AR right now, but it's really close between this and the STB and the 74-U. We've never seen the Chimera be as popular as it should be. However, if it remains in this state, we can see it becoming hugely popular. We'll keep you posted.
Which Assault Rifle Is Best For Long-Range?
In an exclusively long-range capacity, we think the best AR right now has to be the Lachmann 556. It's just super easy to control and puts out solid-enough damage numbers. This makes it an excellent choice for players of every skill-level. Paired with a nice SMG, this makes for a great loadout.
That's the current standing of all ARs in Warzone 2 right now. We will of course update the list should new weapons or updates change the meta. Until then, make sure you have the best guns on the list levelled.
