Strongholds are a new feature Warzone 2.0 and a new kind of POI on the Al Mazrah map. They spawn at one of 77 possible spots on the map and provide a lot of valuable loot. Guarded by Al Qatala bots, new challenges await you there, which you of course have to finish first to get to the loot.

Warzone 2.0 Strongholds

Strongholds are new fortified locations where you can get your loadout, among other things. For each Battle Royal match, three strongholds will spawn randomly on the map after the first circle and will be marked with a Stronghold icon on the Tac Map. You don't need an access key or anything to capture the Strongholds, you can just walk in with your squad.

In the first Stronghold you have to disarm a bomb hidden somewhere in the fortress. For the other two Strongholds, players have to eliminate a certain number of enemies. It doesn't matter if you kill other players in the area or the AI bots.

The team that completes a Stronghold first will receive a Black Site key. All following squads, can still earn a loadout and some valuable loot.

Warzone 2.0 Black Sites

So, if you and your squad completed a Stronghold first, you get awarded a key to a Black Site. The Black Site is basically just a harder Stronghold. It has way more difficult AI bots, is harder to clear, but also provides better rewards like the best weapons in the game and even blueprints. You can find Black Sites on the Tac Map via the skull icon.

Are Strongholds & Black Sites Worth The Risk?

If you want to have the best weapons in the game, yes. But they are relatively time-consuming, and the probability of meeting enemy squads is of course extremely high. Nevertheless, the loot is really good, so give it a try, it can be worth it. More importantly, Strongholds are a great way to get your loadout since you can only buy your primary weapon at buy stations.
