The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X & S have been out for a while now. They both had Warzone updates at different times, and when we wrote this article, the Xbox was in front. But where do the two consoles stand now? What's the advantage of playing next-gen Warzone? And is one a better experience than the other?
You might not have been lucky enough to get your hands on a next-generation console yet, but if not, I'm sure a great many of you still plan to. And if you're reading this article, the chances are high that you're a Warzone player, perhaps Warzone is basically the only game you play like it is for quite a few. So you've probably wondered, what's Warzone like on the new consoles? And does one run better than the other?
What Improvements Do the Next-Gen Consoles Get in Warzone?
120 Frame-Per-Second. This is the most noticeably felt step-up from the last generation that players will experience when they play Warzone on the next-gen consoles. And thanks to a recent update, both Xbox and PlayStation get access to this improvement. You just need to ensure you're using an HDMI 2.1 and that you're playing off a 120fps capable monitor. The output will be scaled down to 1080p on both consoles.
But in both cases, Warzone is still an old application native to last-gen, so possible advancements can only push the consoles so far. And for this reason, frame-rate is the only felt improvement between old or current-gen consoles. A Field-Of-View slider has been widely requested from the community, but everything we've heard so far suggests that the devs do not want this feature coming to consoles, irrespective of capability.
Does Warzone Play Better on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S?
The Playstation 5's backward compatibility will always be limited by the 5.5 GB of usable memory that the PS4 Pros had, whereas the Xbox Series S/X can work with 9 GB of usable RAM when playing older games. But while the Xbox Series X/S is capable of more, there's no fundamental difference between them when playing Warzone. In fact, we advise PlayStation, so you can disable crossplay and thereby avoid a great majority of the cheating problem in Warzone. You probably won't be able to avoid it entirely, but this will do a huge amount.
