We kick off this Top 5 with the transfer that inspired it. Three years on the FaZe roster were not enough for the Bosnian to get his hands on that elusive Major trophy, so he opted to continue searching in a G2 shirt.

4. Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski from Virtus.pro to mousesports
Esports fans sometimes have short memories, but we do not. The transfer of the Pole came out of absolutely nowhere and spelled the official end of the Virtus.pro era.

3. Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev from Team Liquid to Natus Vincere
We may have to refresh some memories again here. This is the most ancient transfer on our list and it includes, without a doubt, the best player.

2. Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjaerbye from Astralis to North
If there ever were a shocking transfer on the CS:GO scene, it was this one. At the start of 2018 Kjaerbye was the youngest member of a Major-winning Astralis team and a Major MVP. One can only imagine the oohs and ahhs that followed his departure for the newly formed North.

Everything begins and ends with NiKo. Well, at least our list does. Each transfer we've included is here for different reasons. NiKo's most recent move is a great player seeking redemption, Snax was a desparate attempt at relevancy by an org always on the brink of it, s1mple was a gifted nomad that found his home, Kjaerbye was a good player that thought he could be great.
In neither of these cases did we have the best current player make a switch at the height of his power. However, that is exactly what happened when NiKo completed his first big transfer from mousesports to FaZe Clan.
After seeing no team success whatsoever, NiKo finally got the move he wanted when FaZe came calling. Sadly for both parties, this marriage did not lead to the biggest prize and a divorce followed some three and a half years later. (Image credit: FaZe Clan via Twitter)
