Amazon is busy these days, producing AAA TV series. Now, they will add a Blade Runner series to their portfolio.
Am I alone in hating the first Blade Runner movie? That's a rhetorical question – I know I am. Everybody loves that film, but here I am thinking "that movie sure didn't age well". I'm not a huge fan of the original, but, nonetheless, I do love the Blade Runner universe, and so I'm still hyped when I hear that Amazon is working on a Blade Runner TV series. With their Lord of the Rings series releasing soon, Amazon is sure knocking it out of the park these days.
Blade Runner 2099 Live-Action Series Coming to Amazon
The show will be a direct follow-up to Blade Runner 2049, and Ridley Scott is on board as an executive producer. As the title suggests, Blade Runner 2049 is set exactly 50 years after Blade Runner 2049. According to Ridley Scott, the show's been in the making for a while and the plot is already written:
We have already written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible. So, we’re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, probably the first 10 hours.
Sounds good to us, and also, here's another hot piece of news: Rumor has it that an Alien TV series is also in the making. According to Ridley Scott, "Alien is now being written for pilot". Wow. A good time to be an Amazon Prime subscriber.
