In a scientific paper about Assassin's Creed, the originally planned ending of the series was revealed. And there should have been spaceships!
Assassin's Creed was planned as a trilogy from the very beginning. These plans have long been overthrown. In the meantime, the main series consists of slightly more parts (12). Nevertheless, new information has now been revealed, stating that the series should have taken a completely different direction.
Currently the game is almost 15 years old, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla being published 2 years ago as the latest part of the series. Ubisoft has already announced an Assassin's Creed DLC, so the franchise is up and running. Also there is the question of what we can expect on Assassin's Creed: Infinite.
Assassin's Creed: Desmond Miles and Lucy as Adam and Eve
An old paper containing new information has now been revisited and has shown the plans of Assassin's Creed co-creator Patrice Désilets for the very ending of the saga. And this ending is quite surprising, I must say. But, I don't want to get ahead of myself.
In 2019, Belgian researcher on religious conspiracy theories in digital media Lars de Wildt studied the representation of religion and history in Ubisoft's games. In his study, he conducted several interviews with the aforementioned Patrice Désilets and Creative Director Alex Hutchinson. In one of these interviews, a very special ending escape plan of the trilogy was revealed: Desmond and Lucy (she dead already, RIP) were said to fly away in a spaceship. Better go out with a bang than a whimper.
The idea was to let the two protagonists escape into orbit in the year 2012 - the end-of-the-world-year - and let them find a new life somewhere, similar to Adam and Eve. By now, Désilets has since been kremoved from his workplace at Ubisoft. The future of the Assassin's Creed series now lies in the hands of creative directors Jonathan Dumont and Clint Hocking.
You're wondering why we are talking about spaceships right now and not about a nice, traditional sailing ship that Desmond sails into the sunset with in the end? Fans have already theorized whether the mysterious Isu might actually be a secret alien race, but truth is: We don't know.
Current similarities to the Adam & Eve story can also be found in the end of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but we don't want to go into detail for spoiler reasons.
How will Assassin's Creed continue?
A DLC for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has already been confirmed. Assassin's Creed Infinite, the next part of the Assassin's Creed series will probably take the entire franchise in a completely different direction. However, theentire project is very ambitious and probably won't be released before 2023.
