In the Mexican state of Veracruz, a 10-year-old boy shot another 11-year-old boy after losing to him in a video game.
According to the authorities, the two boys were playing video games in a shop that rents out video games, before the incident happened. After losing a game, the boy got so upset that he ran home and picked up a weapon, before returning to the shop and shooting the other boy.
Apparently, the shooter had free access to a pistol that was lying on a table in the living room of his family's apartment. After the shooting, the culprit and his family fled the scene, while the 11-year-old boy died in the shop.
According to the Mexican newspaper Reforma, the mother of the victim accuses the shooter's parents of being responsible for her son's death. The mother apparently had to witness her child's last moments and blames the shooter's parents, as their negligence led to her child's death.
The governor of Veracruz expressed his condolences, saying that it is "just sad", that a child is able to access a gun so easily at his home.
