Charlie Cox spoke up on the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series, with news that will either excite you or disappoint you.
Let's not beat around the bush any more than I already did with that headline: The new Daredevil series will not be a continuation of the OG Netflix Daredevil, nor be a faithful adaption of Frank Miller's Daredevil run. Turns out that the by-name 'Born Again' is to be taken quite literally. But... here's Charlie Cox confirming the news himself:
I don't think it means we're going to tell the Frank Miller story of Born Again in the comics. I don't think it means that. I think it's — you know we made the [Netflix] show, it ended, years passed, and we're making another show. It's a perfect title.
Daredevil: Born Again - It's a Reboot
Even though season 3 already partly adapted Born Again, many still assumed that the name 'Born Again' would hint at the Frank Miller story, but... that seems to not be the case. I think that's a huge mistake, but hey... as long as the reboot replaces annoying blondie and annoying lawyer side-kick (yes, I forgot their names, sue me), then I'm all for it. All I want is Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, though there is no word on the latter making an appearance.
If you're not familair with Frank Miller's 1986 series Daredevil Born Again, then you should definitely make yourself familiar, since it's one of the more iconic Daredevil runs. Still, according to Charlie Cox, Kevin Feige and his crew are confident to adopt the name and not the story:
Born Again is iconically a Daredevil run in the comics and it's a great title for our show because we are doing this show again in a new way. I think the show will be slightly tonally different — I don't know how yet — I haven't read anything yet. We're doing 18 episodes, that tells me that the structure and the way we're going to tell our story will be slightly different.
