Dear Child On Netflix: Will There Be A Season 2?

Netflix's newest miniseries Dear Child has been a huge success despite its grim tone and pretty short runtime of around five hours – or maybe that's the secret. Point is: it was great in a cruel way. But will Dear Child get a season 2?

Dear Child proves yet again that Netflix surely knows how to make good shows given the opportunity – meaning the right showrunners adapting the right stories. The six episodes long miniseries tells the story of Lena, Hannah, and Jonathan and their traumatic experiences after being abducted and raised in isolation.

Based on the critically acclaimed novel "Liebes Kind" by German writer Romy Hausmann, Dear Child is a story not often told: the one after the escape from the captor. It's grim, it's dark, it's chilling and disturbing – and short enough to watch in a single day. But is there going to be a sequel?

Is There Going To Be A Season 2 To Netflix's Dear Child?

You've probably seen the miniseries if you've ended up here – for those of you who didn't, don't worry: this is going to be spoiler free. I highly recommend watching it asap, though.

The story is a pretty accurate adaptation of the book by Romy Hausmann, and the conclusion speaks for itself as well. Basically, the narrative fit perfectly into the miniseries, the story is told, there aren't that many things left up to speculation or in need of closure – season 2 is rather unlikely for these reasons.

And you know what? Might be for the best. As writer Romy Hausmann put lots of thought into her story (and it shows), it may be best to keep it as she intended instead of taking the characters in a direction they weren't meant to go going in the first place. God knows these people have been through enough.

But if you enjoyed Romy Hausmann's story, you may want to read the book that came out after Dear Child. More nightmare fuel and just as chilling: here's Sleepless by Romy Hausmann.

Need a pick-me-up now? Understandable. Here's some fun content for a change:
