Black Mirror will officially come to Netflix next year! Charlie Brooker, creator of the hit show, already had lots of plans for potential new episodes. Let's see what he has in store!
Netflix has renewed Black Mirror for season 7 – let's go! That also means that creator Charlie Booker has to go back to writing – or does he? That mind of his is full of interesting ideas and he shared them even before Black Mirror got renewed.
According to Variety, that's all the info we get for now, though. There's no confirmed cast, release date or anything else that's to be reported just yet. We'll keep you updated on that front! Still, Brooker has already shared some of his ideas, and they may just be what fans can expect for season 7, coming out in 2025.
Charlie Brooker About His Ideas For Black Mirror Season 7
In an earlier interview with Digital Spy, Black Mirror's creator Charlie Brooker couldn't help but share some of his ideas for season 7. At the time of the interview, nobody could be sure if Black Mirror would even get a new season.
That didn't stop Brooker, though: it seems like his ideas for new episodes and ways to tell his stories just don't stop and Netflix is there to help him realize them in season 7. For example, Brooker teased the classics:
I've never done an animated episode or a musical episode.
Even though he also shares that "USS Callister" back in season 4 started out as a story about a musical, we all know how that turned out. But the idea still floats around in his mind – and that will be something to tackle in season 7, as he shared with The Hollywood Reporter. Or how about an animated musical? Two birds with one stone?
Apart from that, there's absolutely no way to predict what Brooker's got in store at the end of the day. With the direction that "USS Callister" took, we already know that some stories just turn out differently than originally planned – but maybe, just maybe, the USS Callister will get back on the original track in season 7. But Brooker doesn't seem too concerned with concrete plans, anyway:
Again, all bets are off, because, in season 6, we've got some [episodes] that are almost old-school horror, and we've got some that are retro-futuristic, and we've got ones that are out-and-out comedy. So it's a right mix. So I don't know. Anything. Bloody anything!
The direction season 6 took was already wildly different compared to season 1, so chances are audiences will once again be surprised. With the confirmation of season 7 and the six brand-new episodes, Brooker can return to his personal playground called Black Mirror to once again do "bloody anything!"
So make sure to be prepared for the unpredictable mind of Brooker to show you the bleakest, most depressing future imaginable – and don't forget to check in every once in a while to see if there's news on the Black Mirror front!
